 In the wake of Eric Garner’s tragic death at the hands of the NYPD, the community has responded relentlessly with mass demonstrations. For a list of direct actions endorsed by Housing Works as an endorsing organization of a citywide coalition against police violence, visit www.thisstopstoday.org,  and see the events listed below. Housing Works is also organizing a demonstration with the Audre Lorde Project that will take place next week on Wednesday, December 17, to r enew the call for transgender rights in the face of police violence.  If you’re interested in helping to organize the event, contact us at  j.benjamin@hou singworks.o rg. Over the next month, there will also be plenty of opportunities to advocate to end discriminatory and violent policing, the AIDS Epidemic, and the record homeless crisi s in New York City. As we continue naming the violence that our communities face at the hands of law enforcement across the country, we must continue to lift up and name the Women, both Cis and T rans, Gender Non-Conforming, Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Black People and People of Color who have been lost to police violence, and who are survivors of police brutality.
