    We are the approved regional training centre for theICATS program in the South of England, providing trainingsolutions to companies and individuals within the industrialpaint application industry.

    Our exible approach to the training and the certicationprocess enables us to provide services through a range ofoptions, tailored to the clients operational needs.

    What are the benets of ICATS?

    Registered contracting companies will benet as they willhave proven documentation of a competent work force.Many major authorities intend to make ICATS a mandatoryrequirement for companies submitting tenders for contracts.ICATS certication also gives companies a competitive edgewhen applying for registration on approved contractors lists

    and quoting for contracts. Clients will benet as the schemefacilitates a compilation of accurate approved contractorslists for tender requirements and the courses comprehensivetraining programme should minimise technical, safety and

    quality control difculties/issues on site.

    Industrial Coating Applicator Training Scheme(ICATS)

    ICATS is owned by Institute of Corrosion and operatedthrough Correx Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary ofthe Institute, and forms part of the Institutes training

    and certication portfolio. The ICATS scheme is a newcomprehensive, structured training scheme for thetraining, certication and registration of industrial surfacepreparation and coating operatives.

    The scheme has a mandatory basic Unit Industrial CoatingApplicator that comprises 6 modules - Health & Safety, SiteAccess, Plant & Equipment, Surface Preparation, Paint Types& Application and Quality Control.

    There are also 4 optional specialist modules; Abrasive BlastCleaning Operator, Paint Sprayer, Thermal (Metal) Sprayer &

    Water Jetting Operator.

    Course Structure

    Training is either delivered at our facility in Portsmouth, orfor companies we can also send our ICATS trainer to yourpremises or site to deliver the training and certication to

    your staff. Over a ve day period, we cover the following;

    Surface Preparation covering types, methods and plant/equipment used

    Paint Types and systems, covering mixing, storage,compatibility

    Paint Application methods including taking atmosphericreadings prior to application

    Health and Safety within the Paint Industry Access, Plant and equipment requirements Quality control covering the use of specialist testing and

    measuring equipment
