5. The purpose of the committee was to bring academic, business operations and facility management in line with our accepted principals of sustainability.
Eight subcommittees formed:
Building Maintenance & DesignGreen Purchasing
Energy/Renewable Energy Project Academic Curriculum
Landscape Design & Maintenance Training/Awareness
Recycling/CompostingGrants/Publicity
Sustainability Committee
6. Curriculum
Integrate sustainability concepts into curricula.
Increase faculty and student awareness of sustainability issues.
Increase sustainability educational offerings.
Integrated Approach Campus-Wide
7. Incorporate green building and design methods in construction projects.
All campus construction will be built to at least the LEED Silver standard or equivalent.
Maximize energy efficiency.
Adopt landscaping and grounds maintenance practices that use integrated pest management techniques, native plants, and reduce storm water run-off.
Facilities Management & Conservation
8. Business Practices
Obtaining the best value by balancing short and long-term costs, maintenance, life-cycle, and environmental costs in purchasing goods and services.
Adopt an energy-efficient appliance purchasing policy requiring purchase of ENERGY STAR certified products in all areas for which such ratings exist.
Purchase non-toxic cleaning products whenever practical.
9. Share with outside communities the knowledge generated from sustainability research, education and practice.
Help promote environmental awareness and natural resource conservation.
Interact with the community through on and off-campus activities.

Saved paper that is printed on one-side and sent it to the Math Lab where students use it as scratch paper. 26. Programmed copiers to print two-sided as default.
