International Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics (ICoNSoM 2019)

June 16-19, 2019

Roma, Italy

On behalf of the organizing committee of ICoNSoM 2019, it is our great pleasure to invite you to the International Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics in Rome, Italy. ICoNSoM Conferences are intended to provide an international opportunity for communicating recent developments in various areas of nonlinear solid mechanics and materials. After the very successful 4th Canadian Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics, held in July 23-26, 2013 at McGill University, Montreal, Canada, which was a truly international event and has seen the co-sponsoring participation of McGill University and M&MoCS, we decided to create a new series of fully international conferences on the same subject. The framework of ICoNSoM 2019 is truly multidisciplinary and scientists from all over the world are encouraged to contribute in the conference. The technical program will include plenary speakers, regular sessions including contributing papers and mini-symposia sessions on pre-defined topics of nonlinear solid mechanics as well as areas of linear solid mechanics that are bridging nonlinear aspects.

Organized by

Marco Amabili (Chair) ICoNSoM 2019 McGill University, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Montreal, Quebec, Canada [email protected]

Francesco dell’Isola (Chair) ICoNSoM 2019 SAPIENZA Università degli Studi di Roma and International Research Center of University of L’Aquila (M&MoCS), Italy [email protected]

Venue The conference will be held within the fascinating setting of the historical building of Palazzo Argiletum, premises of the Department of Architecture of the University ROMA TRE, in the historic heart of Rome. The name of the building, reminds of the ancient Via Argiletum, an old Roman road that ran through the ancient Suburra more or less the same as the current Via Madonna dei Monti. This long way is characterized by Medieval and Renaissance buildings and by seventeenth and eighteenth-century palaces.

Joint M&MoCS Workshop on Models of Complex Materials and Systems

20-23 June 2019, Arpino, Italy

The Lia Coss&Vita, joint research unit between the CNRS Federation of Paris Mechanics Labs and the M&MoCS Center, organizes a Conference on “Models of Complex Materials and Systems”, immediately after ICoNSoM 2019, in Arpino from 27 to 30 June 2019. This Workshop will leave wide room for scientific discussion by a group of invited specialists. The program will be deliberately free enough to allow detailed technical presentations and exchanges associated with possibility impromptu interventions. Emphasis will be placed on the formulation of continuum and discrete models for complex materials and systems. Special attention will be addressed to the design of metamaterials, but wider subjects discussion will be welcome.

Venue Joint MEMOCS Workshop The Workshop will be held in the historical city of Arpino, 100 kilometers south east of Rome, in Italy. This particular and special location will not allow to more than 50 scholars to participate. Those interested to participate are welcome to communicate their intention as soon as possible.
