ICT Integration Statement

Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) are widely used in the 21st century and plays a crucial role in todays education. The use of ICT in todays education means that children will have an opportunity to enhance their learning experiences through a range of ICT resources. Through out the four lessons on Anzac history, ICT will be utilized in a way that allows the children to express their knowledge and understanding on this topic. The different forms ICT that will be used include an Interactive Whiteboard, IPads, Apps, games and videos. These resources will build the student's knowledge and skills as they have the opportunity to actively participate in group decisions and authentic and hands on or physical activities.

The Interactive Whiteboard (IW) will be used throughout lesson one to brainstorm the childrens understanding on the history of the Anzacs. This brainstorm will be done through an app called spider scribe and will invite the children to write and draw their understanding. Once the brainstorm is over the teacher will then be able to save the brainstorm and refer back to it later. The Interactive Whiteboard will also be used to read a poem and to watch YouTube videos.

IPads are an essential device in the 21st century and will be used in all four of the lessons. The size and weight of IPads makes it easier for the children to carry around the classroom, making them an appropriate choice for these lessons. IPads also give teachers an opportunity to select creative tools, interactive software and applications that will enhance the children learning. However, it is important for teachers to research and choose the right app that highlights their learning objectives. The apps that have been carefully researched and chosen for these four lessons are Book Creator, Pic Collage, QR Codes and Survey Monkey.

The children will use Book Creator in lesson three. Book creator was chosen for this lesson as it allows the children to take photos and then insert them into an electronic book. The children will be asked to take photos of how they made their Anzac cookies and then they will insert these photos into Book Creator. They will then have an opportunity to draw, write and colour on top of the photos they have selected.

The children will use Pic Collage in lesson four to create a thank you letter for a historical veteran. This app has been chosen as it allows for the children to write, draw and add pictures to their thank you letter. It will also allow for the children to move around the classroom and take photos of themselves, others and objects. Once the children have completed their letters, the teacher will hang them around the room.

QR Codes will be used through out all of the lessons. These codes will provide the children with an easier way of accessing games, videos, facts, recipes and photos. The codes will be located all over the Weebly website and clearly displayed on each page. Children will have access to these QR codes through an app called QR Scanner. They will be required to open this app and scan each of the QR codes using their iPads. Once the children have scanned the codes, the content will come up on their iPads screen.

In lesson one, the children will be required to complete a quiz in groups of four. This quiz will be created on a website called Survey Monkey and the children will answer a set of questions relating to the history of the Anzacs. This website was chosen for this lesson, as it allows the teacher to create a set of questions for any topic. It also allows the children to access this website from any device, including IPads.

In conclusion, the chosen ICT resources will provide the students with an authentic learning experience, as the teacher encourages the students to think outside of the box when it comes to learning and researching information.
