idea brief

Idea Brief• For the film magazine, the brief only mentions secondary school children so I will aim my
audience to mainly 14–18 year old boys with a social class of A B C1. I’ve chosen this age range because early and late teenagers will be very interested in film and TV and so it is a much more mature audience than bellow 13. Having my target of mainstreamers would mean if my magazine covered child movies like animations or superhero movies for example, I will more chance of appealing to a large group.
• The product magazine must inform readers of the various film related news they will be interested in, such as upcoming films, actor/celebrity news, film ratings and various articles relating the events in the film/media industry. The magazine must also be entertaining because having a target audience of 14–18 year old boys means that my magazine wont be appealing if there is too much text and no interesting subjects. I can make the magazine interesting by covering news about actors and mainly revolving my magazine around the animated, fantasy and action film genres.
• My magazine will be seen online. As stated in the brief the magazine is electronic, as such it will be viewed on various digital devices such as tablets, computers, mobile phones and possibly games consoles which will be fitting since the target audience are teenage boys, they will be playing a lot of video games.
First Idea• I want to use the upcoming star George Cook as my inspiration for this magazine article and
picture. I want to create a double page spread containing a large picture and a large article on each page that is inspired to be like the James Bond films. For the picture, I wanted it to be a medium shot of George dressed in a smart suit with the left side of his body at an angle and his arm extended holding his gun out towards the left of the page. I’d like his facial expression to be as if he is serious about the situation. Think picture will be taken in a London street with the buildings and people behind him out of focus slightly to symbolise his importance in the shot.
• I want to also have antagonist also played by George Cook. Named Keith Cook in the film, his character profile will be in the magazine. I have made a rough Photoshop imagine of a typical gang outfit George may wear during his photo-shoot of Keith (any weapons used will be fake or simply just props.
• I will then interview George Cook and get his opinions on his films and his carrier as a movie star. I want to get enough information to put into the article that will go on the opposite page to the picture. George will be dressed in a smart grey suit and he will speak quite formally and be modest about his new found fame and talent. I will take George to London for the photo shoot by car and take various other pictures of George from different angles, although I would like my specific angle it would be useful to take more pictures for the editor/designer to play with.

Second Idea• I want to use the upcoming star Fraser Hallett in a romantic comedy type film. I will have a few
pictures of Fraser in different outfits scattered around a single page. The page will consist of an article relating to Fraser’s recent success in the comedy genre and the pictures will have him dressed In costumes like, a business suit, some casual clothes, a party suit and some sports gear. This will tell the reader that Fraser is very talented in portraying a large variety of characters.
• The article will talk about how Fraser was always good at drama as a child and was the lead role in a number of his school’s performances. He become a movie star when some directors came to his school and he was nominated for the auditions for a film which he won and took part in. Afterwards he kept getting requests from producers to have him play a role in their movies and eventually become famous. Fraser is very modest about his fame and doesn’t feel he is deserving of it since he finds himself to be very normal.
