Dick Zhang: CEO and President
Dick Zhang is President and CEO of Pittsburgh, PA based Identified Technologies. Dick leads his rapidly growing team’s efforts to deliver real-time job site updates to industrial companies around the world using robotic aerial drones. Prior to founding Identified Technologies, his previous work included corporate finance at Goldman Sachs and project management at Bristol-Myers Squibb. A technologist as well as entrepreneur, he is an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania with training in Mechanical Engineering and holds several U.S. patents. Dick has been featured as an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist, Pittsburgh Business Times Fast Tracker, and Point Park University guest lecturer.

INDUSTRY PROBLEM: Oil, gas, mining, and construction businesses used to spend tens of
millions of dollars to inspect infrastructure, map job sites, and survey progress. Their only
options for gathering data were deploying boots on the ground and utilizing commercial planes
and helicopters. They waited 8 weeks to capture and analyze mapping data on these job sites,
and could only see monthly progress updates. Past solutions were slow, limited, dangerous, and

mapping drone flies itself above job sites automatically, captures the data, and lands itself back
on the dock station, which lives on the client site throughout the project. The dock station then
swaps and charges the drone’s batteries, and sends the data to the cloud for customer analysis
wirelessly.
