IEEE CONTROL SYSTEM

SOCIETY ACTIVITIES

IEEE is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to

advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE is the trusted “voice” for

engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe. In our

college, twelve technical societies are formed to collaborate the experts in all the

fields. IEEE student branch chapter started during the year 2002, since its inception,

students are motivated to join in the student branch chapter in their own willing

every year and office bearers are responsible for various IEEE technical and Non-

technical activities. For the past five years, various student branch society chapters

are established with various technical objectives under the guidance of various

faculty advisors. At present Eighteen (18) student society branch chapters are there

and three affinity groups are there with maximum number of student strength for

each society will be twenty five. The seven technical councils are formed with

various specific project objectives. In our college, it is our regular practice of

conducting technical guest lectures, technical seminars and technical workshops in

all the branches. Students are motivated to do various domain specific projects

attached to their branch chapter. Students are encaged with various technical and

non-technical symposium events during college day and cultural events during

teacher’s day celebrations. Students are motivated to travel across countries to

present their project works with full travel grant. Students are travelling across

countries under society travel grant scheme to attend the various society chapter

chairs meeting. Last year a student attended IEEE Antenna and Propagation society

chapter chair meeting held at Italy with various eminent people from across

countries. Last year IEEE, Madras section awarded the cash prize for maximum

number of student strength in the student chapter and for maximum number of

society chapters and also for IEEE day celebrations during the year 2017.

ABOUT IEEE CONTROL SYSTEMS SOCIETY

IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) is an organizational unit of the IEEE. It was

founded in the year 1954 and is dedicated to the advancement of the theory and

practice of systems and control in engineering. The Society is dedicated to the

advancement of research, development, and practice in automation and control

systems. In our college, it was inaugurated on 20.08.2016. From the inception

various technical guest lectures, technical quiz and other activities carried by our

student branch chapter office bearers.

Workshop on “Linear Regression” held on 19 December 2019 at St. Joseph’s

College of Engineering, Chennai 600119.

IEEE Control System Society Student Chapter of St. Joseph’s College of

Engineering organized a workshop on “Linear Regression”. The concept is

explained by Ms.S. Hepziba and Ms. Jayashree Narayanan on 19 December 2019.

Different types of linear regression method are explained. Both Faculties and

Students were attended.

IEEE Control System Society Madras Chapter and IEEE Control System Society

Student Chapter of St. Joseph’s College of Engineering jointly organized a guest

lecture on “Artificial Intelligence in Robotic Control” given by Dr. P.V.

Manivannan, M.E., Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical

Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras on 10 Oct 2019. Different

types of Robots and implementation of AI in Robotics are explained. Both Faculties

and Students were attended.

Report on “Value Added Course on INTELLIGENT INSTRUMENTATION”

held from 09-11 March for II Year EIE Students at SJCE

IEEE Control System Society Chapter arranged three day course in St. Joseph’s

College of Engineering, Chennai. The workshop conducted by M/s. VIPRA-

Intelligent Instrumentation, Chennai at our college campus. The course structure

included PLC, SCADA and P & I diagram. IEEE Control System Society Chapter

faculties Mr.Pandeeswaran ,Mrs.Gnanasoundharam Mrs.Meena,Mrs.Brindha and

Value Added Course on “Internet of Things (IoT)” held from 09-11 March

2017 for III Year EIE Students at SJCE

IEEE Control System Society Chapter arranged three day workshop in St. Joseph’s College of

Engineering, Chennai. The workshop conducted by Laesr Labs, Chennai. The course structure

included basics of software and hardware tools such as Linux OS, Python, Processing, Arduino

and Rasberry Pi.
