IESE Business School is one of the world’s top-ranked business schools and is committed to the development of business leaders who have a positive, deep and lasting impact on people, firms and society. To meet this goal, the school offers high-caliber degree and executive education programs, and leads rigorous research initiatives that are global in scope.

With world-class campuses in Barcelona and Madrid, the school also delivers diverse programs in key international cities in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. IESE also has offices in New York City, Munich and Sao Paulo.

Regardless of location, IESE programs stand out for their unique approach. They offer a general management perspective, international focus and an emphasis on ethics and corporate social responsibility.

As the graduate business school of the University of Navarra, IESE is home to an outstanding faculty, acclaimed for the generation of innovative ideas and knowledge. They hold Ph.D.s from the world’s top research universities, but also bring real-world business experience to the classroom. Most importantly, they are deeply committed to the personal and professional development of each and every student.

“IESE offers a broad international vision of the challenges and opportunities facing managers in today’s interconnected world. The IESE experience is about more than acquiring skills and knowledge. It’s about becoming a more effective, inspiring and responsible leader. It’s about quality of service, community and personal growth. It’s about placing priority on people, their wellbeing and their development.

If profits are the only goal, then people just become the means to reach this goal. At IESE, we believe that leaders should place each person at the heart of their organizations to pave the way for successful and lasting firms.”

THE IESE

EXPERIENCE

IESE Business School

IESE is consistently ranked among the top business schools in the world.

IESE programs are internationally recognized for their high caliber, and unique people-centered approach toward leadership and management. They foster solid management skills, a global mindset and a firm grasp of corporate social responsibility.

IESE faculty members emphasize that companies are communities of people. As such, firms have a critical impact on the individuals who work in them and society at large. For this reason, CEOs and senior managers have to be vested in developing the people around them, and building trust in personal and organizational relationships.

The school’s value-based approach stems from its roots as the graduate business school of the University of Navarra. The university was founded by Opus Dei, an institution of the Roman Catholic Church, and the ethical views that it draws from are based on the Christian tradition.

PROGRAMS: A PEOPLE-CENTERED APPROACH

MBA PROGRAMS

IESE offered Europe’s first two-year MBA program in 1964, through the guidance of Harvard Business School. Today, IESE Business School offers a complete portfolio of rigorous, highly ranked MBA programs in both full-time and part-time formats.

IESE’s classrooms are highly international, with 80 percent of the full-time MBA class and 85 percent of the Global Executive MBA class coming from abroad. The school’s faculty members, who hail from 27 different countries, bring both research expertise and real-world experience to the classroom. In addition to their research and teaching activities, IESE professors serve as consultants or board members, or lead their own firms.

The primary teaching approach employed by IESE professors is the highly dynamic and interactive case study method. This methodology is one of the most fruitful ways of learning how to analyze complex business situations, understand them from a global perspective and make effective decisions. Students work in small teams, thus giving them the opportunity to strengthen their leadership capabilities and manage cross-cultural groups, which are increasingly important skills in the business world today.

Full-Time MBA

The Full-Time MBA program takes place over 19 months and is offered on IESE’s campus in Barcelona. Students also have the chance to participate in an international exchange program and spend a semester at another top school such as Berkeley, the University of Chicago, Columbia, Kellogg or MIT.

Global Executive MBA

The Global Executive MBA is designed for international professionals seeking to carry out a highly ranked program while working. The 16-month program is centered on residential modules held in global locations, and is offered in two formats - monthly and bi-monthly.

Executive MBA

The 19-month Executive MBA is aimed at experienced professionals who seek to enhance their management skills and capabilities without interrupting their professional careers. The program is bilingual (English/Spanish) and includes an international module, which is held in China.

EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

IESE provides a wide range of executive programs for managers and entrepreneurs seeking to strengthen their knowledge and skills. General Management Programs cover business fundamentals, while enhancing leadership skills.

The school’s Short Focused Programs target specific business areas and geographic regions. Classes are internationally diverse, with participants from various

countries and backgrounds.

General Management Programs

IESE offers two General Management Program formats, designed to help executives at different stages of their careers.

The Program for Management Development (PMD) is geared toward professionals who have mastered a specific area, and who are looking to go further in their management careers.

Participants cover business essentials, and enhance communication and leadership skills. The program is offered in Madrid and Sao Paulo.

The Advanced Management Program (AMP) is aimed at executives who have already reached a senior level, and who would like to refresh and expand their management knowledge. The program is offered in Barcelona, Munich, Nairobi, Sao Paulo and Warsaw.

Short Focused Programs

IESE’s portfolio of Short Focused Programs helps participants deepen their knowledge of specific business areas. SFPs are offered at IESE’s campuses in Barcelona and Madrid, as well other international locations, including New York City, Dubai, Miami and Shanghai.

Among the many topics covered are global strategy, offshoring and outsourcing and global value chains. Also offered are programs that introduce business leaders to new regional markets such as China, India and Africa.

IESE Executive Education programs offer students the chance to analyze companies from a comprehensive vantage point, to understand the leader’s mission in the organization and to grasp the role of the executive.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

IESE offers the Ph.D. in Management program, which prepares students to teach and carry out research at other leading business schools. The program provides a rigorous grounding in the most advanced interdisciplinary research methods in business management. The student body is highly diverse, with 90 percent of the program’s students coming from abroad.

The International Faculty Program (IFP) is an intensive program for junior scholars in the field of business management who come from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

IESE has teamed up with other top schools to offer specific programs. In conjunction with Harvard Business School and CEIBS, IESE leads the Global CEO Program for China for Chinese executives.

With Wharton and CEIBS, IESE offers the Global CEO Program for Latin America for business leaders who oversee operations in this region.

Custom Programs

IESE’s custom programs provide solutions for companies that are leading processes of organizational change or are seeking to address specific business challenges. They take into account the unique circumstances of each company and are led by IESE faculty members who have expertise in areas relevant to the company’s sector or context. Among the many leading companies that have entrusted IESE with the delivery of custom program offerings are Abbott Laboratories, BBVA, Bertelsmann, Boeing, Ericsson, Henkel, Sun Microsystems, Telefónica and Vodafone.

campuses. These activities provide IESE faculty members with insights on new geographic areas and cultures, which they then bring into the IESE classrooms.

The school launched its first programs under the auspices of the Harvard Business School-IESE Committee, which continues to meet today. By joining forces with other leading institutions, IESE provides participants with a comprehensive perspective on today’s business world.

Rigorous research underlies all IESE program content and the school’s professors are consistently recognized for their research excellence. The faculty is made up of 106 full-time professors, as well as part-time faculty members, all from more than 27 different countries.

In addition to their research and teaching, the professors are actively involved with the business world through their service on boards, with consulting firms and by virtue of leading their own companies.

In the area of publications, IESE is the world leader in the distribution of case studies in Spanish, and the school’s faculty members are prolific producers of cases in both English and Spanish. Professors publish their latest findings in leading refereed journals, as well as the school’s own publications, such as the online knowledge portal IESE Insight (insight.iese.edu).

Serving as pillars for all of the school’s research activities are IESE’s centers and chairs. These interdisciplinary initiatives are headed by IESE faculty members and are supported by internationally diverse teams of researchers and experts.

LEARN, SHARE, GROW ALUMNI ASSOCIATION:

One of the most enriching rewards of the IESE experience is becoming a part of the school’s international alumni network. With more than 32,000 IESE graduates living and working in 100 countries, the school’s alumni community provides a lifelong source of professional and personal support.

Each year, the Alumni Association organizes Continuous Education events in key international cities, giving graduates the chance to continually meet other alumni and learn from IESE faculty and special speakers. These events are supported by the association’s 29 Regional Alumni Chapters, which are led by enthusiastic graduates.

The association’s central annual event is the Global Alumni Reunion, which brings together hundreds of graduates to hear from high-level speakers from business and academia. The reunions are regularly held at key international venues and feature informative cultural programs and social activities.

The association also offers a multitude of special services and publications for alumni, as well as an interactive website that, among other benefits, enables graduates to connect with other alumni who have similar interests and professional objectives.

There are currently 29 Alumni Chapters hosting activities all over the world.
