ANNUAL GENERAL BODY MEETING 15-16

The Annual General Body meeting 2015-2016 of the IETE student’s forum TKMCE was

conducted on 24th

July 2015 at the EEE Seminar Hall of TKMCE from 4:00-5:00pm. The

meeting began with a note of silent prayer which was followed by the welcome speech by IETE

chairman Arun R.

The meeting was inaugurated by staff coordinator of IETE student’s forum TKMCE,

Dr.KGopakumar. The inaugural address was followed by the annual report presentation by the

organisation secretary ShristiAdhikari. Mr.Rahul R present the audit account of the year 2014-

15.The administrative and executive members of IETE Student’s forum TKMCE 2015-16 took

charge on the same day.

New administrative members:

The prize distribution for the circuit debugging competition held in the academic year 2014-15

was given during the meeting. The prizes were distributed by Dr.K.Gopakumar. The winners are:

• Sreeraj P and Vivek T V (T7) Rs.1250

• AswathyUnni and R. Sana (T7) Rs.750

• Jimmy Issac and Marydas C Johnson (T7) Rs.500

85 Students from T3,T5 and T7 attended the meeting.The meeting concluded on a vote of

thanks by Mr.Jishnu .C .K.


MINIPROJECT EXPO

• Date : 28 July 2015

• Time : 2.00 PM to 4.30 PM

• Venue : Electronics Devices Lab, Dept. of ECE

• Faculty : Dr. T.A.Shahul Hameed & Dr.Abid Hussain

A miniproject expo was organized for fifth semester and third semester Electronics and

Communication Engineering students in association with Electronics & Communication

Engineering Association and IETE Students Forum. A total of 17 mini projects of T7 students

were exhibited in the expo.

The third and fifth semester students got an opportunity to review the work of their

seniors and they were inspired to do novel and innovative projects in the future. All faculty

members of the Electronics and Communication department visited the expo. It was held on 28th

July between 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The expo was conducted in the competition level where 3rd

and 5th

semester students cast their

votes for best project. The car accident monitoring system was chosen as the best project, while

the second place was won by the Shock gun followed by the Smart wheel chair.


C PROGRAMMING CLASS

• Date : 13 October 2015

• Time : 4.00 PM to 6.00 PM

• Venue : Room No M-310

The C programming class for the second year students under the IETE was conducted on

13th

October, 2015 from 4 pm to 6 pm. The class was taken by the final year student of the CS

department Deric Sunny, final year CS student. It was good and effective for students. An

introduction on Raspberry Pi was given by Mr. Nanda Kishore. He delivered a lecture on

operating system LINUX and gave a brief idea about Raspberry Pi.The participants are given

good response regarding both sessions in their feedback.


RASPBERRY PI WORKSHOP

• Date : 17,18 October 2015

• Time : 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM

• Venue : Central Computing Faculty (CCF)

• Faculty : Dr. K. Gopakumar

A workshop on the Raspberry Pi was conducted at the TKMCE CCF handled by the two

eminent personalities Bijil and Navas on the 17th

and 18th

of October, 2015. The workshop was

coordinated by Arun R and Rakhesh S Raj and Jishnu C K.

The programme started at 9’0 clock and was anchored by sreelakshmi, 4th year student of

ECE. The welcome speech was given by professor KGopakumar, staff coordinator of IETE. He

spoke about the aim of this workshop and how it will be beneficial for the students. He talked

about the future plans of IETE and expressed his happiness on conducting this workshop.

Officially he welcomes all personalities in the occasion. The function was inaugurated by

Dr.SAyoob; the principal of TKMCE. He spoke about the growing technology and expressed all

his support for the workshop and for the upcoming events. Vote of thanks was given by

Prof.SreekumariAmma, staff of ECE department.

The class started at 10’0 clock and was handled by A&B. There was a lag to start the

session due to shift from CCF lab to CS lab. But it was compensated in a matter of time. The

workshop was divided into 6 sessions. First session was about ’Getting started with basics’. A

took the class on ‘introduction to Raspberry pi’ he explained about the model of Raspberry Pi,its

properties, uses,etc. Students got a basic knowledge on Raspberry Pi.Then he explained about

the Hardware and interfacing components.

The next session on’ Assessing the Pi’ was taken by Bhijil. All students installed

operating system of Raspberry Pi. Then he discussed about the Linux operating system. Next

session was based on ‘The power of shell: command’, students learnt the command lines and

how to programme in pi.All participants powered up the pi and controlled the monitor using pi.

The next session after the lunch break started at 1:30pm and students played games with

python and understood simple commands, condition, loop, functions, etc.the day 1 was over by

5:30pm.

Session of the next day started at 9’0 clock. They taught how to control LEDs using

Webiopi and Raspberry pi.Then explained how to control the LEDs and a DC gear motors using

python. The workshop was great success and it was beneficial for the students. Every one

learned how to operate a Raspberry Pi and the workshop was great fun too.


WORKSHOP ON BASIC ELECTRONICS

• Date : 4 March 2016

• Time : 4.00 PM to 6.00 PM

• Venue : Room No 233

A workshop on the fundamental basics of circuit designing was conducted at the TKMCE in

association with the IETE on 4th

march 2016. The workshop coordinated by the final year

students began around 4 pm in the ECE department the workshop which was divided into two

session witnessed active participations from the students. The formal session was handled by Mr.

Nanda kishore of T5 which was based on the subject FAMILIARIZATION OF ELECTRONIC

COMPONENTS. next the dancing lights LEDS on breadboard was demonstrated. With a total of

63 students from the first year participating in the event, it turned out to be a very successful

event.


ATMEGA WORKSHOP

• Date : 16,17 December 2014

• Time : 4.15 PM to 6.00 PM

• Venue : Room No M 305, Dept. of ECE

• Faculty : Dr. K. Gopakumar

The workshop on ATMEGA was conducted in TKMCE in association with IETE on 12th

of March, 2016.The workshop was coordinated by Arun R, chairman of IETE and Rakhesh S

Raj, executive member of IETE. The workshop was handled by three eminent personalities

Dhanish Vijayan, Nithin Kurian and Jerryl James from the most famous institution ‘Elementz

Pvt ltd’.

The event started at 9’0 clock and Arun R was presided over the function. The function was

inaugurated by Dr.k.Gopakumar ,the staff coordinator of IETE.Then he handed over to the

guests. DhanishVijayan talked about the basics of Atmega and various applications. During the

introduction session, the kit containing atmega, DTMF and other components were distributed to

the participants.

The workshop was conducted at the computer lab of ECE department.15 groups were

participated from various departments and each group having 4 members. The event was

volunteered by second year ECE students.

He explained the pins of the Atmega and its connections. He also explained the

programming part. The software was installed in the systems assigned to the participants. The

program for the blinking LED was done first.

The afternoon session was continued from 2.15pm, which was about DTMF controlling.

Students controlled the Atmega using DTMF and android phone. The next class was based on

GSM module. He explained it very clearly and showed its working. They winded up the class by

introducing a DTMFcontrolled robot.


MATLAB CODING

• Date : 11th March 2016

• Time : 4.00 PM to 5.00 PM


A competition of Matlab coding was organized in association with IETE of TKMCE. The

event was coordinated by Arun R, the chairman of IETE and conducted on 11th March 2016.

The competition was conducted in Room.no 233 of ECE department at 4’0 clock, around ten

teams participated in the prelims and each team had two members. The room was arranged by

IETE members and each table was set with a laptop with matlab software. Questions were

distributed to each participants and final year students volunteered the event.

Four teams were selected for final competition and programme winded up at 5.00pm

STEP UP

• Date : 2nd April 2016

• Time : 2.00 PM to 6.00 PM


STEP UP was a programme organized for first years to get a basic idea of electronics. As

the name mentioned it was a step from school to college. The programme was conducted in

TKMCE in association with IETE on 2nd April 2016.The event was coordinated by Arun R,the

chairman of IETE and conducted by second year students of ECE department.

The programme started at 2’0 clock and arrangements were done in Room No 233 of

ECE department. Eleven groups registered for the event and each group had 3 members. There

were many tasks and each task was volunteered by a second or a third year student. Only one

group participated for the event at a time.They were given instructions for solving the tasks. The

programme winded up by 6.00 pm.

The event was very successful and they got basic idea of electronics. There was a tie for

first price and Nandakishore, executive member of IETE conducted a questionnaire for those

teams. First,second and third price were announced by Nanda Kishore. Students from many

departments participated in this event.

MOBO-RACE

• Date : 7th

April 2016

• Time : 4.30 PM to 6.00 PM

• Venue : Auditorium

A Mobo-race was conducted in the auditorium in association with IETE of TKMCE on

7th April 2016.The programme was coordinated by Rakhesh S Raj, executive member of IETE

with the help of Arun R,Jishnu CK and Sristi.The track and other requirements for the event

were arranged by first year students and the competition started by 4.30pm.9 teams participated

in the competition. All teams completed the track in different times. First, second and third prizes

were announced by analyzing the race of each teams.The event winded up at 6.00pm by taking

group photo.First and Second year students were volunteered the programme.

A Quiz Competition was conducted in TKMCE in association with IETE. Quiz prelims was

conducted on 4th

April in room no.233 at ECE department at 4.30pm.The programme was

coordinated by Jishnu C K, executive member of IETE. 7 Teams were selected to the finals.

QUIZ FINALS:

Finals of the event was conducted on 11th

April 2016 before Annual General Body Meeting in

the APJ Hall at 4.30pm.The event was coordinated by Jishnu C K and Rasheed from 4th

year

ECE Department. The Competition was divided into 3 sections and total score was announced

after every section. The programme winded up at 5.15pm.

ANNUAL GENERAL BODY MEETING 16-17

The Annual General Body meeting 2015-2016 of the IETE student’s forum was

conducted on 11th April 2016 at the APJ Hall of TKMCE from 5:00-6:30pm. The meeting began

with a note of silent prayer which was followed by the welcome speech by IETE chairman Arun

R.

The meeting was inaugurated by staff coordinator of IETE, TKMCE Dr.KGopakumar sir.

He spoke about the importance of conducting and attending workshops. Prof. Reshna S was also

present for the program. The inaugural address was followed by the annual report presentation

by the organisation secretary ShristiAdhikari.

IETE treasurer Rahul R presented the financial report. The administrative and executive

members of IETE student’s forum 2016-2017 took charge on the same day.
