Introduction1. TheievofingerprintreaderisfullycompatiblewiththeNorpass3PC-basedaccesscontrolmanagementsoftwareandtheCRC22xdoorcontrollers.Thisguidedescribeshowtomountthereaderandconnectittothecontrollerandmanagementnetwork.Onceinstalled,thereadersneedtobeconfiguredfromthesoftware.PleaserefertotheSoftwareManual.
WerecommendthatyoualsorefertotheEndUserguidesthataresuppliedwiththereader.Thesecanbeusedtohelptraintheusersofthereadertoeradicateanyfingerplacementissues.
Beforeattemptingtoinstallthereader,pleaseensurethatyouhavecheckedthefollowingpointsandhave read through the manual.
Ensureyouhaveselectedthecorrectreaderforinternalorexternaluse.Theexternalreaderis1. suppliedwithabuilt-inthermostatcontrolledheatingsystem.Aninternalreader,placedexternallywillnotperformtoit’srequiredcapabilities.
Ifyouarefittingaflushmountedreader,ensureyouhavethecorrectcut-outtemplateandhave2. thecorrectmountingandfixingplatesprovidedinthebox.
Werecommendthatyouuseoneofthefused12VDCoutputsprovidedintheCRC22xhousingto3. supplypowertothereader.Ifyouuseaseparatepowersupply,ensurethatitissurgeprotected.Thereaderisdesignedtoshutdownandrebootasaprecautionwheneveritdetectsspikesornoiseonline.Theuseofacorrectpowersupplywillpreventthisfromtakingplace.
WerecommendthatyouinstalltheievoreaderattheDDAheightofapproximately1metre.This4. willbetheperfectheightforfingerplacement.
Ensureyouusegoodqualityscreenedcorecablesatalltimes.OnlyuseCAT5cableforthe5. networkconnection.
NOTE:IfyouremovetheFerritestoshortencablelengthofthereaderpleasereplaceFerritesbackontothecable
EachievoreaderneedstobeconnectedtothesameITnetworkastheNorpass3hostcomputer.6. EacheachreaderwillneedtobeassigneditsownIPaddressforthenetwork(Seenetworkpages).
Ensureyouhavecalculatedthecorrectpowersupplyamprating.IfyouareconnectingtheiEvo7. boardandothercontrollers/lockingmechanismstothesamesupply.
Pleaseensureyoureadallofthewarningsandinformationnoticesinthismanualbefore8. commencing installation.
Donotexceed5metresincablelengthfromthereadertothecontrolbox.Thereaderissupplied9. witha2.95metrecable.Ifyouneedtoextendit,ensurethatyouusegoodqualityconnectors.

Advice on User Registration Strategy1.1 Registrationoffingerprintsiscarriedoutusingthecontrolboxassociatedwiththefirstreaderonthesystem.Thecorrespondingreadermaybeusedforuserregistrationwhereuserregistrationcanbecarriedoutduringperiodsoflowtraffic.ItispossibletopurchaseadesktopreaderthatconnectstoaUSBportonthePCtomakeregistrationeasier.However,thisstillrequirestheuseofthecontrolboxassociatedwiththefirstnetworkedreader,makingthisreaderunavailableforaccesscontrolwhilstregistrationisinprogress.Insuchcircumstances,werecommendthepurchaseofanextracontrolboxthatisdedicatedtouserregistration.

Installing ievo Software and Configuring Readers4. TheievosoftwareissuppliedontheNorpass3InstallationDisk.Ifyouhavenotalreadyinstalledit,insertthediskintothediskdriveoftheNorpass3hostPC.Ifautorunisenabled,theinstallationmenuwillbedisplayed.Ifthisdoesn’thappen,locate‘N3InstallerSplash2011.exe’(thenamemaybeslightlydifferentdependingonthediskversion)intherootdirectoryofthedisk,anddoubleclickit.
Fromtheinstallationmenu,clickon‘InstallIevo’andthenfollowtheinstallationinstructions.Onceinstalled,thestartmenuwillhaveafoldernamed‘Ievoltd’.
Note: Whentheievosoftwareisinstalled,Norpass3detectsitandenablestheaddingoffingerprintsoncardrecords.Youcanseethiswhenyouclick‘Editusersdetails’onacardrecordin‘EditCards’.
Configuring the ievo Reader(s) to Operate on the TCP/IP Network4.1 Asshowninsection3,eachievoreadercontrolboxmustbeconnectedtothePCviaaTCP/IPnetwork.ThereforeeachreadershouldbeassignedanavailableIPaddressfromtheIPaddressrangeusedbythenetwork,whichmustthenbestoredinthereadercontrolbox.TheIPaddressofeachievocontrolboxisfactorysetto192.168.1.225.Tochangethisaddress,youneedtocommunicatewiththereaderfromaPCwithanIPaddressfromthesamerange.
ThebestwaytocommunicatewithanewcontrolboxistouseanEthernetcross-overcabletoconnectthecontrolboxdirectlytothePCandtemporarilysettheIPaddressofthePCtoanaddressinthesamerange(e.g.192.168.1.100).
Note: ChangingtheIPaddressofthePCshouldbecarriedoutbyapersonthatunderstandscomputernetworking.Oncethetaskiscompleted,thePCshouldbereturnedtoitsoriginalstatus(eithertheoriginalIPaddressorautomaticallyassigned).
WiththeievocontrolboxconnecteddirectlytothePC,clickthe‘start’buttononthePC,openthefoldernamed‘ievoltd’andselectthe‘networktool’program.Thefollowingboxwillappear:

SetthenewIPaddress,SubnetmaskandDefaultgatewayparameters(ifyouarenotsureabouttheSubnetmaskandDefaultgateway,deletethevaluesandleavethemblank).
Atthisstage,youshouldnotchangeanyotherparameters.Click‘Write’tosavethevaluestothecontrolbox.Onceyouhavemadethechange,youwillnotbeabletocommunicatewiththecontrolboxuntilyouhaverestoredtheIPsettingsofthePC.
Repeattheaboveprocessforeachcontrolbox,ensuringthatyouassignadifferentIPaddresstoeachboxandrecordtheassignedIPaddresses(seeexamplenetworkbelow).
YoucannowrestoretheIPsettingsofyourPCtotheoriginalsettingsandconnectyourPCandcontrolboxestothenetwork.EnsurethatyourPCcancommunicatewitheachofthecontrolboxesusingtheirnewIPaddresses.
Note: Ifyouhaveaccidentallyprogrammedanievocontrolboxincorrectlyandyouareunabletocommunicatewithit,asalastresort,youcanresetittoitsfactorysettingsandstartagain(seeappendixA).

Installing a USB Desktop Reader5.1
Ifyouaregoingtouseadesktopfingerprintreaderforregisteringfingerprints,youfirstneedtoinstallthereader.DonotconnectthedevicetoyourPCuntilyouhaveinstalled the driver.
Toinstallthedriver,clickthe‘start’buttononthePC,openthefoldernamed‘ievoltd’andthenselectthe‘USBDriver’folder.Findthedriverfolderfortheoperatingsystemyouareusing.ForwindowsVistaandwindows7,openthefolderanddouble-click‘dpinst.exe’toruntheinstallationprogram.
Oncethedriverisinstalled,plugtheUSBdeviceintothePC.Windowswilltheninstallthedevice.
Testcommunicationswiththereaderbyrunningtheievosoftware(clickthe‘start’buttononthePC,openthefoldernamed‘ievoltd’anddouble-click‘Managefingerprints’)andselectingMenu/settings/testUSB.IfyougetaanerrormessageyouneedtocheckthattheUSBreaderispluggedintoavalidUSBportonthePC.RememberifyouunplugandplugtheUSBreader,theievosoftwarewillneedtoberestarted
IftheUSBtestissuccessful,configurethedeviceastheregistrationreaderbyselectingMenu/settings/RegistrationReaderandchoose‘USBRegistration’fromthedropdownlist(seeimageonright).

Thismethodofuserregistrationcancausedistruptiontonormaluseofthereaderforaccesscontrol.Thereforeuserregistrationactivitiesshouldberestrictedtotimeswhentheaccesspointisnotinuseorwhentrafficisataminimumlevel.
Checkthattheievosoftwareisconfiguredforregistrationusingtheievoaccesscontrolreaderasfollows:

Uponsuccessfulregistration,thesensorwillthendeactivateandtheunitwillbeeptwicewhilethe4. LEDdimsonce.AtthePC,theievowindowwillcloseandthefingerprintdetailsandassociatedcardnumberisstoredinallievoreadersonthesystem.Tocompletethetask,savechangesandclosethecard‘EditCards’window.
Whentheusernextpresentstheirfingerprinttoanievoaccesscontrolreader,theywillbeallowedaccessprovidedthattheyhavetheappropriateaccesslevelinNorpass3.An‘accessgranted’eventreportwillberecordedagainsttheassociatedcardnumber.

Deleting a Fingerprint5.4 Ifitisnecessarytodeleteafingerprintfromthesystemwithoutdeletingthecardrecord,inNorpass3,openthecardrecordfortheuserwhosefingerprintyouwishtodelete,andclick‘Edituser’sdetails,andthenclickon‘DeleteFingerprint’.Thiswillremovethefingerprintrecordfromallievoreadersonthe system.
