T he International School of Business and

hospitality management is a dynamic,

modern school in the heart of Switzerland,

with a focus upon all aspects of the catering and

hospitality industry. There is a long tradition of

tourism in Weggis, located at the foot of the Rigi in

the canton of lucerne, and it is the ideal environment

for young people from all over the world wishing

to be trained in the most important business and

hospitality professions.

For many of our students it is the first time they

have been away from home for a long period in

a completely foreign culture. We therefore offer them

round-the-clock support from the time they arrive

at the airport until completion of their studies. even

after they have graduated we are always available

to listen to their questions.

Students learn about the business and hospitality

management sector in a familiar atmosphere. The

curricula include all subjects related to tourism, and

after the courses students can undertake appropriate

practical training. The school’s manageable size

enables individually supported teaching and

considers the cultural and religious backgrounds of

each individual.

tourism. Nowadays, catering and hospitality

have moved beyond hotels and restaurants alone.

airlines and cruise ships expect the best service; and

young hotel professionals are looking for opportunities

to implement their own business ideas.

Training in the Bachelor of Business Administration

and master of Business Administration as well as Post

Graduate in hospitality requires the most exacting

standards. ISBm is accredited by various domestic and

foreign guilds and associations: The Swiss quality

certificate for further education institutions (EduQua),

the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH &

LA), the British Hospitality Association (BHA) and The

leading hotel Schools in europe. These guilds and

associations guarantee the quality of our teaching.

It is no wonder that everyone has confidence in our

services: There is no better preparation for a career

in the hospitality and catering industry than a high

proportion of practical work and english as the teaching

language. each year, 150 students from more than

30 countries around the world plan their professional

future in this way.

A cross the globe, Switzerland is associated

with hospitality, precision, cleanliness and

good service. ISBm represents Swiss

quality at fair prices. Anyone studying with us not

only gains a certificate that is backed up by the most

important quality labels in the hotel industry, but they

also leave with skills and attributes that are appreciated

all over the world and which are very much in demand.

However, theory alone is insufficient unless skills are

practised until they become second nature. We therefo-

re place great importance upon practical aspects. We

work with 160 companies in Switzerland that offer

trainee placements. We have contacts, for example, in

Great Britain, the uSA and dubai. up to now we have

always succeeded in finding a place for each student.

Students undertake paid work in kitchens, service, hotel

management and reception during their training, where

they gain insight into the reality of everyday working life.

They are prepared meticulously for this challenge.

German is therefore firmly integrated into the teaching

programme. As an option we also offer the French

and Spanish languages. Besides this, we instruct our

students about how to conduct themselves during

interviews and help them to compile their job application

documents..

In the everyday life of the school, they are being

trained naturally into the characteristics required for the

world of work. Not just by being responsible for their

own cleanliness and tidiness in their rooms and

washrooms, but also by adhering to our rules. As we are

convinced that presentation conveys professionalism,

we expect our students to be appropriately attired

during instruction periods. We are certain it is

only possible for students to learn effectively in an

environment where they feel comfortable. We therefore

foster a friendly atmosphere and personal support. We

behave in a tolerant and respectful manner and expect

this in turn from our students. We ensure that nobody

in our care is discriminated against on the grounds of

race, skin colour, religion, origins, gender or age. We

take account of cultural and religious considerations at

mealtimes.

however, it is not only among the students that open,

intercultural exchanges take place. during their study

and leisure time, there are various opportunities to come

into contact with local people. It is therefore not long

before students begin to feel at home in Switzerland.

Nevertheless, should they start to feel homesick, family

visits are possible at any time. Relatives are very welcome

on the campus; they can be accommodated in the school’s

own rooms and eat with the students in our special

dining hall. In this way they become acquainted with

the everyday school life of their sons, daughters, sisters

and brothers.

At the same time, students as well as their families

can be confident that we ourselves are fulfilling the

qualities we are putting across. excellent, balanced

meals are served three times a day, seven days a week.

All our rooms are fitted with a shower and WC. The

library, kitchen, cafeteria and computer room with

24-hour Internet access are available at all times.

We endeavour to serve as an example for our

students, in that we are always prepared to subject our

services to critical appraisal and to make improvements.

I deally, a balance can be struck between work,

study and leisure. So much the better if all three

areas interact harmoniously – taking pleasure

in work and continuing to learn during leisure time.

The facilities and location of ISBm offer the right

preconditions for this.

After lucerne, Weggis is the second largest

tourist area in the canton. In a picturesque location

on the banks of lake lucerne, at the foot of the

Rigi massif, the region attracts hordes of tourists

each year. The beauty of Weggis and its environs

also benefit our school. For example, by exploring

lucerne, making bike tours around the lake,

travelling out on the ships, climbing on an indoor

adventure wall, or relaxing with one of the

many wellness offers, you are learning first-hand

about the advantages of Swiss quality in tourism

management.

Students also have the opportunity of combining

business and pleasure in-house. The school’s own

American Bar, managed by two students during

term time, serves as meeting place for both ISBm

students and the locals.

The School continually offers excursions to the

Swiss Alps, the Rhine Falls and other famous sights

in our country. The school also organises regular

trips to exciting cities right across europe.
