Hello UB!

The fall semester is upon us! We certainly hope you had a great summer! As you may

know, Upward Bound is a national program and is intended to instill a college going

culture for students such as yourself. This means we want you to finish high school,

and enroll in college. A college education not only gives you something to brag about,

it gives you the opportunity to create a comfortable life. By being comfortable, you

have more time to invest in your family, your friends, your community and yourself.

If your church, your community, or your background is important to you, a college

education will most definitely help you to make positive impacts in those areas.

With that said, we want you to know that we are here for you. This year, expect to see more tutoring, advising and more educational activities to keep you moving toward your goals. We also have a lot of fun things planned, so jump in and enjoy the ride! Let’s make it a great year!

‘Sup, UB?! My name is Mariana Ramiro-Gomez and I am a new

Academic Advisor. I started this summer and am stoked to meet more of you this year. Me

and my favorite (only) nephew are on the left and me and my homeland (Mexico) are on the right. I like to sleep, watch Netflix/

movies, eat popcorn, hike, run, read and help YOU get to college! Really.

This is my dream job.
