THE ATLANTA GA AIRPORT

Our IFFR Airport is the very friendly Lee Glimer

Memorial Airfield in Gainesville KGVL.

Established already in 1941 it has a long history,

having been a training base for the navy personal

in the art of GCA approaches. In 1947 it was

decommissioned and returned to the City of

Gainesville. Today it is a well equipped IFR/VFR

airport. Located to the North East well away from

the busy airspace of Atlanta with 2 paved runways

in 1276’ above MSL. The airport is equipped with

ILS, GPS and NDB approaches .

IFFR CONVENTION HOTEL

IFFR has reserved thirty rooms at the Atlanta

Marriott Marquis, for those of you who would

like to stay with fellow members. (15 rooms for

June 9; 30 rooms for June 10 through 14).

Our hotel is only 8 blocks from the Convention

Site---within walking distance.

The room rate is $205 USD per night, which

includes all taxes.

FLY-OUT ROUTE

IFFR CONVENTION PROGRAM

Saturday 10th—Wednesday 14th

Convention days. The IFFR both is open at the

House of Friendship.

Monday 12th

IFFR AGM will take place in the afternoon at the

convention center.

IFFR Gala dinner are planned for the same

evening .

FLYOUT PROGRAM

Thursday 15th

The flyers will depart the hotel for Lee Glimmer

Mem Airport. Departure for Chattanooga, TN.

Civil War and Area tour and visit to the great

downtown area.

Chattanooga is the home town of our International

President John Germ.

We will stay one night at this location.

Friday 16th - Monday 19th

The flyers will depart for Knoxville. Here there

will be a lunch stop and we will visit the Cirrus

Delivery center. In the afternoon we will fly on to

Lexington, KY. The bus will drive directly to

Lexington from Chattanooga.

We will stay 3 nights in Lexington, and the

program there will entail

Tour of Race Horse farm.

Bourbon tour

Rotary Rodeo

Daytrip to Shaker Village with dinner.

Atlanta

Atlanta was established in 1837 at the intersection

of two railroad lines, and the city rose from the

ashes of the American Civil War to become a

national center of commerce. In the decades

following the Civil Rights Movement, during which

the city earned a reputation as "too busy to hate" for

the progressive views of its citizens and leaders,[13]

Atlanta attained international prominence.

metropolis feels open and spacious.

Atlanta, while located in the South, has a culture

that is no longer strictly Southern. This is due to a

large population of migrants from other parts of the

U.S. who have made the metropolitan area their

home, establishing Atlanta as the cultural and

economic hub of an increasingly multi-cultural

metropolitan area.

PROGRAM

Monday 19th—21st

All depart for Lewisburg , WV. Two nights at

Greenbrier Hotel Resort in White Sulphur

Springs, WV. Surrounded by the wondrous

Allegheny mountains, The Greenbrier is one of

the finest luxury resorts around the world.

Wednesday 21th

All depart for Washington, or more precisely

Manassas, VA. We will stay here 4 nights

Over the following 4 days we will

Thursday 22st

Washington DC Tour, visit to the Smithsonian

museum of interest

Friday 23nd

Fly out to Williamsburg KJGG

Non flyers may goes on a tour to Gettysburg

Saturday 24rd

Local tours

I.e. Dulles Air museum, Potomac Tracon and/or

wine tour.

In the evening, farewell banquet.

Sunday 25th

Kiss and cry -Departure we all go home.

NOTE There will be a bus accompanying us for the whole

fly out which can carry luggage as well as non

flyers.

The tour ends in Manassas on the 25th
