Contextual setting
• As part of the work on the EIP on AHA - with the support of H2020 - roadmapping is taking place to ensure a focus on standardisation in - eHealth; - Health and care (i.e., integrated care); - Independent living and age-friendly environments.

General stage of stock-taking In the emerging field of active
and healthy ageing (AHA), it is important to identify the “to dos” – in standardisation – needed to bring AHA “into a good shape”.
Towards this task: - EHTEL brings its expertise in technology, interoperability and standards applied to eHealth/digital health. - EHTEL brings its ability to provide a multi-stakeholder platform.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 5
However, PROGRESSIVE is not PRO EIP AHA / EIP on AHA Intensive work on collecting
the 600 ‘tips-guides-standards’ that exist in the EIP AHA world, completed December 2016. eStandards http://www.estandards-project.eu 24-month coordination and support action running until 30 April 2017, proposed by HL7, CEN TC251, & IHE, leading Standards Development Organizations (SDOs), and supported by the eHealth Network, ISO TC215, GS1, IHTSDO, IEEE11073, and IMIA to advance eHealth interoperability and global alignment of standards.
International Patient Summary (roadmapping the activities to materialise an International Patient Summary).

PROGRESSIVE: aims and objectives
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 7
PROGRESSIVE PROGRESSIVE stands for
Progressive standards for ICT in active and healthy ageing (AHA)
PROGRESSIVE responds to three challenges related to change: - Attitudes and demographics of ageing. - Older people’s engagement and inclusion in the standardisation process. - Improving the impact and influence of standards.
PROGRESSIVE focuses on European standards related to AHA in the 28 European Union countries, plus five others

PROGRESSIVE length and budget
Coordination and support action 24 months in duration Started 1 October 2016 (launch was held on 9 November 2016) 905,781.24 euros total budget.
Problem statement
Age-friendly communities are needed.
For active, healthy, and empowered older people. who have the opportunity to live in accessible, affordable and supportable homes.
Complemented by reformed and empowering services.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 11
To achieve this vision, many different forms of standards are needed e.g., - design for all, - smart buildings, - standards for telehealth, telemedicine (including mHealth) and eHealth.

PROGRESSIVE’S primary objective
Making the best use of standards / standardisation for ICT in the field of AHA. Putting in place a dynamic and sustainable framework for standards in AHA.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 15
Ten sub-objectives support the primary objective (1/2) [Sub-objective [SO-1]]
A map of standardisation actors. [SO-2] A sustainable platform for multi-stakeholder
networking, collaboration, knowledge management and the sharing of expertise (FEASt).
[SO-3] A process for stakeholder involvement (to support SO-2).
[SO-4] A benchmarking process in relation to standards.
[SO-5] Identification of all relevant standards and standardisation activities.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 16
Ten sub-objectives support the primary objective (2/2) [SO-6] A first draft of ‘Smart and Age-Friendly
Homes’ guidelines for standardisation and an accreditation/certification framework.
[SO-7] Coordination activities + gaps, and a roadmap, around standards and standardisation.
[SO-8] Good practice guidance and a framework for standards.
[SO-9] A policy information brief. [SO-10] Age friendly procurement guidelines on
standardisation and an audit tool for standard technologies.
EHTEL’s involvement in PROGRESSIVE
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 17
EHTEL will help to ….
Translate what has been learned in the eHealth field about standards and interoperability to the much wider, emerging domain of AHA.

EHTEL’s role in WP7 (1/2):
EHTEL leads on:
WP7 on “Use cases and interoperability” It runs from M7-M19 of the project.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 19
EHTEL’s role in WP7 (2/2):
To explore the role of standards for interoperability in specific and wider range of domains around ICT for AHA - an example is electronic health records. To outline, and consider, the merits of use cases - so that interoperability and harmonisation objectives can be tested in different service models.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 20
WP7 has two deliverables D7.1 Use Cases Defined
[EHTEL] M10 i.e., Oct 2017
A brief internal report, focusing on a range of use cases. Method = using outcomes of meetings, consortium member knowledge, and literature. Task 7.1 acts as a basis for Tasks 7.2 and especially Task 7.3.
D7.3 Report: Interoperability Profiles for Use Cases in Different ICT and Service Contexts [EHTEL / TQG] M19 (Milestone 3) (i.e., July 2018)
A longer report that shows how 2017-2018 activities around interoperability can be addressed in the context of ICT for AHA service models, services and related products.
IFIP - Politeia - Milano, Italy 10/02/2017 21
EHTEL’s role EHTEL is involved in four other
PROGRESSIVE work packages, besides project management:
• Use cases and interoperability. Stakeholder engagement/consultation.
• Online platform development/ collation of information.
• Development of first draft guidelines. • Evaluation and monitoring.
