The requirementsof harsh industrialenvironments aremet by a stablemetal housing, awide temperaturerange and thehigh protectionrating IP 67.

The new RFIDevaluation unitDTE100 has fourantenna connec-tions, which canalternatively beused as digitalI/Os. The antennasare connected viastandardised M12connectors.

The standard pinassignment of theI/O connectionsensures that

common sensorsor actuators aredirectly connectedand powered fromthe RFID evalu-ation unit.

LF and HFtransponder.

Up to 2 m:Mid range antenna for the reliableidentification of larger units, e.g.on a conveyor belt.

Ultra low and lowrange antennas.

These antennasare distinguishedby the near field.In order to achievea high selectivity,the smallestpossible designsare used as theymanage shortreading ranges.

Mid rangeantennas.

Due to its smallerdimensions themid range antennais chosen forapplications in thenear / far field withreading ranges ofup to 2 m.

Efficient control of processes with RFID.

The DTE100 RFID system can beoperated with different antennas with125 KHz (LF) or 13.56 MHz (HF).

Inductive RFIDtechnology

The RFID system(Radio FrequencyIDentification)from ifm electron-ic generates anelectromagneticfield for readingand writing ofdata.The electro-magnetic fieldemitted by theantenna inducesvoltage in thepassive ID tag(transformerprinciple).

This activates theID tag (transpon-der) which returnsits code. Process-ing of the codeand transmissione.g. to the AS-In-terface are carriedout in the read /write head.Advantage: reli-able data trans-mission in dynamicreading processesDepending onapplication, range,data volumes, andread / write dis-tances different
