Here’s a look at the development journey for an online course...

Each year, Infopeople conducts surveys of public library staff inside and outside California.

Once the needs have been identified Infopeople scours the library field to recruit the very best subject matter experts for each topic.

The Instructor and an Infopeople Instructional Designer work together to create a course outline, which is the blueprint for the course.

Instructors login daily, provide weekly updates, grade assignments, and give feedback. Learners interact with course content and Instructors interact with learners through questions, feedback and email.

We use these surveys to determine training needs and areas of special interest for the coming year.

Additionally, crowdsourcing, focus groups and key informant interviews are used to gather even more detailed information. All of this information is analyzed and then used for the next step.

Learners interact with and learn from each other as they share expe-riences and insights. Those who complete the course and meet the requirements can opt to receive a Certificate of Course Completion.

EvaluationEvery course includes a Course Evaluation questionnaire. The questions are customized, using learning outcomes from each course’s outline. The evaluation asks learners to give numerical ratings for various elements of the course to measure what they learned. There are also open-ended questions asking for learner comments on the value of the course, suggestions for improve-ment, and ideas for future Infopeople training events.
