PROMOTIONAL CONTENT

BUYING&SELLING PERIODS

IGACOMBATPROGRAM OVERVIEW/PREAMBLE

The program will commence on Thursday 17 January 2013 and will continue weekly thereafter unless otherwise advised by TIR.

The IGA Tasmania Combat Program, as supported and facilitated via TIR, is available to all IGA retailers who require some additional promotional support and activity to meet localised competitive pressures, be it a chain supermarket or another IGA / Non IGA operator. The program is an extension of the IGA Tasmania ‘all channel’ press and TVC marketing campaign which applies to all IGA Tasmania stores, and also the promotional catalogues that are made available to Channel 1 & 2 retailers. The IGA Combat program provides a more consistent and targeted support package to participating stores and replaces the many individual store specific promotional programs that existed on an ongoing basis prior to 2013 and in many instances were facilitated via TIR. TIR will however still provide over and above promotional support and activity for store specific / one of request as and when required, e.g. birthday promotions, new store opening etc. In addition, individual stores can still undertake their own promotional activity however all specials must be facilitated by the individual store and not TIR.

Additional information relevant to the IGA Tasmania Program is noted below.

• The promotion selling period will be the same as the current weekly IGA specials, i.e. Thursday to Wednesday.

• At this stage the buying period will also remain the same as the normal weekly specials however this is only in place for products that receive a case deal off invoice via the SIW TASRDC / DSD.

• Scan deals will apply to the 7 day promotional / advertised period only with no pre or post buy opportunities – this applies for products sourced via the SIW TASRDC or DSD.

• Many of the lines are a combination of both case deal and scan deal, in this instance stores will have the benefit of the extended buying period for the case deal but only the 7 days of the scan deal component.

• There will be a maximum of ten products or groups in the weekly combat programs this will include 3 lines of fresh foods (Meat, Deli and Produce). Most weeks will also include a bakery line. The remaining 6-7 products or groups will be grocery /chilled / frozen lines.

• The program is set up to run as a group thus TIR cannot change prices or products to suit individual stores.

• Promotional deals will be offered via several methods including scan only, case deal off invoice from SIW, off invoice direct or a combination of case deal and scan deal.

• A combat specials host file will be provided in your normal timelines for picking up host files. Fresh lines will need to be loaded manually into POS (as per current arrangements).

• Price points will be very competitive with most attracting nil/low margins, some price points may be slight loss leaders if a key price point is required.

• 9UP POS ticketing (shelf talkers) will be provided free of charge however any additional POS as requested (e.g. A4s or in stores posters) will be at the retailers cost.

• Additional POS (A2 / A3 etc) is available by request, and at the retailers cost – please contact Travis Allen at TIR on 63910200.

• The TIR advertising department will produce an A4 flyer to use at store level (if required) which can be inserted into the weekly ‘in store’ catalogue or conversely used as bag stuffers. The flyer will include the individual store name, address and contact details along with the 10 combat specials for the week. No further individual changes can be made to this flyer. Participating retailers will be required to cover the full cost of the A4 flyer. Please contact Travis Allen at TIR on 63910200 to confirm your individual store requirements and costing. An example flyer is enclosed with this letter.

• Additional promotional activity is permitted (e.g. press), but will be at the retailers cost. All press production / bookings must be done via TIR.

• Retail lists and claim forms will be sent by e-mail (only) each Thursday a week prior to the commencement date. You will also find samples of these forms at the end of this document.

• Scan deal claim forms will have a strict return by date of 7 days post the combat promotion period end. Late claims will not be processed. Claim forms will be processed the day after the due back date and stores will be credited directly afterwards. Scan data reports are to accompany the returned scan deal claim forms.

• TIR is embarking on a project to develop systems to facilitate automatic scan sales data pull back during 2013 which will help manage the scan deal claims more effectively. Once this is implemented it will be a condition of remaining in the combat program to have participating retailers provide weekly sales information via ‘Scan Data’ pull back.

• Participating retailers will have access to all scan data dashboard reports as generated. Please note all sales information will be treated in the strictest of confidence. Scan data pull back / processed will be consistent with that adopted by Metcash.
