Competition Theme

Collision and Fusion

Each col l is ion and fusion of c iv i l izat ions wi l l produce a c lassic era, in which a beauty or a t reasure wi l l be born

and praised even hundred years later.

The gem goes in this way: Gemstones are formed by the geological co l l i s ion and the elements fusion af terwards ,

as the beaut i fu l emeralds formed when hydrothermal f lu id permeat ing the black shale;

The design also goes in same way: W hen western industr ia l c iv i l izat ion and eastern ancient cul ture encounters

they created the charming Art Deco style , which is st i l l popular today.

Nowadays, the col l is ion and fusion of cul tures in di fferent regions and classes occurs even more frequent ly.

Collision and Fusion

Theme Interpretation

Collision:

The chemical composition of gemstones is often

distributed in different geological layers. The rocks

in nature are not static. They always experience

constant impacts or collisions and afterwards all

kinds of brilliant gems crystallize underground.

The earth is far more active than we imagined. In

the deep underground of our consciousness or

unconsciousness, collision is the eternal theme. It

will bring high pressure, high temperature, ups and

downs, and broken. But only after such collisions

can there be treasures such as emeralds and

agates.

Fusion:

A hundred years ago in the West, industry was

developing dramatically fast and rapidly transferring

society to the modern age. While worshiping industrial

civilization, people were also amazed by the beauty of

exotic traditions from the East. The integration of

civilizations between East ,West and the whole world has

created a glorious era. The Art craft movement, Art

Nouveau style, and Art Deco style were born and are still

praised by us 100 years later.

Such integration has historically brought classic era.

Today's cultural fusion is unprecedented. Then what era

will we create?

Design

Requirements:

Participants are required to

design practical works that

within a budget of US$3,000.

Design work is not limited to

materials.

software or sketch design for artworks before 20 th .

● 1st Sep: Announcement of Short l is ted W orks .

● 1st Sep – 1st Nov: Short l is ted works fabr icat ion per iod.

During the fabr icat ion period, the entr ies should corporate wi th IGI for the fabr icat ion relat ing f i les, as 3D

electronic drawing and c lar i f icat ion including measurement, mater ial and craf t .

Top entr ies wi l l be judged by an industry expert judging panel v ia a v i r tual and fai r select ion process and

rewarded as One Champion and Two Second places , as wel l as a winner wi l l be determined in each category

● The judges wi l l comprehens i ve l y judge the par t i c i pan ts works f rom the perspect i ve o f the c rea t i v i t y o f the works , the

● Submission requirements : on ly one work i s a l l owed to submi t i n each ca tegory. The same work cannot be se lec ted fo r

two awards a t the same t ime

● Design budget : A l though there i s no need to make a f i n i shed p roduct a t the submiss i on s tage the con tes tan ts need to

con t ro l the cos t o f the work wi th i n 3 ,000 US do l l a rs
