The team consists of 23 members who are led by the following members: Team Chair: Prof. T Madhusudhan, Team Faculty Advisor: M Uday, Team Captain: Akarsh Rjain, Team Vice Captain: Pranav S Meghlal, Team Manager: Akshaya C Shirwal, Design Lead: G Akhilesh, Marketing Lead: Komal Preet Singh Go-Kart Team, along with Faculty member Mr Uday and HOD) Community Service Activity The department had organized a Community service Activity to the Sneha [yothi Orphan children's home®, Thagachaguppe village, VIT college Road, Kumbalagudu, Kengeri Hobli, on 04/09/2015. During this visit, singing songs and activities were held for 1st to 9th standard students which would enhance confidence, Social awareness, as well as co-ordination among them. Industrial Tour - To BEML

The department had arranged an Industrial visit toBEMLon 3rd Oct 2015for 5th semester students.

Mainly BEMLmanufactured trucks like-BH60,BH150,BHI00, BH205E, in which BH205E is largest truckmanufactured by BEML. Operations like drilling,milling, counter boring etc., which are required forassembly of truck were shown.

Industrial Tour to Mysore Silk Factory

The department had arranged an Industrial visit toMysore SilkFactory situated at Mysore city on 3rd Oct2015 for 3rd semester students. The technology ofsericulture and silk production which involvedMulberry Cultivation, Rearing, Reeling and Twistingwere shown during the visit.

There was also a gold thread section in the factorywhich weaved silk cloths with gold threads in it. Eachsilk saree costs not less than Rs.5000and the ones withgold threading were as expensive starting at Rs.35000.

Social Etiquettes and Moral Ethics

A talk on "Social Etiquettes and Moral Ethics" wasconducted for 5th semester 'A' section students on31/10/2015 by Dr. Raju., B.E., M.B.A, Ph.D., Vice

President, Aditya Inc. [MNC] who was the speaker.He addressed about the importance about the topicand highlighted the need for ethical behaviour for anew recruit graduates. The session was wellappreciated by the students. The guest was honouredwith amemento by HOD after the session.

Education tour

Under the Staff Club, the department had organised avisit to Kisan Fair on 11th Feb 2015 at the BangaloreInternational Exhibition Centre (BIEC)in Bangalore,India. The event showcased product from Agriculture&Forestry, Food &Beverage, and Natural &Organic

GATE Coaching Classes

THE GATE FORUM conducted the coaching oninformation session regarding entrance test forhigher studies in lIT's, NIT's & other topuniversities in India on 27-08-2015. And also Jobopportunities in many Public Sector for freshgraduate engineers. Team lead by Mr. Srinivasand Mr. Lakshminarayan conducted the program.

Staff Development ProgramInauguration was held at Library Seminar hall on 7thSeptember 2015between 9.30 am to 10.15am Presidedby HOD Prof. T Madhusudhan. Chief Guest Mr.Bernard Raja, DGM, EDSTechnologies and Mr. NivasManager, EDS Technologies had accompanied theevent. Delegates from JSSATE, DBIT and staffmembers ofSJBIThad participated in the programme.

ANZ "Money Minded program"

Mr. Paul from ANZ's Corporate sector, conducted theworkshop on the below modules to the students ofMechanical Engineering, 5th Semester on 29/8/2015.

Workshop

The department successfully conducted workshop on"Design Concepts in Various Domains in MechanicalEngg" for 5th'B' Sem Engg on 07/11/2015. Around 50students were present for the workshop. Mr Sanjeevfrom Winsun Global Tech addressed the students.

.Carrier launcher- Aptitude Test

Mr Prashant from carrier launcher gave anintroduction about how to set a carrier in the field ofmechanical engineering. He briefly explained theimportance of design aspects, simulation with respectto different domains in Mechanical Engg. A test wasconducted related to technical and aptitude for 7th and5th semester students.

Independence Day Sports

Independence Day was celebrated in college, duringwhich all the departments had participated in sportsactivities organised by basic science department.Faculty members Mr. Thirumala SVand Mr. SanjayBSwon 1st and 2nd place respectively in Archery duringthe event.

Faculty Development Program

A 5 days FDP on "Industrial Best Practices in Designand Simulation Engineering" was organized duringJuly 27th to 31st July 2015 by Department ofMechanical Engineering coordinated by Mr. GowthamK, faculty member. Around fifteen delegates fromvarious engineering colleges from Bengaluru andPuttur along with our faculty members of mechanicalEngg. Department participated in the program. Theevent was presided by Principal Dr. Puttaraju, Keynotespeaker Mr.Yogesh CEO, Kshipra SimulationsBengaluru, and HOD Prof.T.Madhusudhan.,

Alumni Interaction

Mr. Anoop Shetty, Alumni 2009-2013batch, currentlyworking in CADD centre, Bengaluru as ProjectManagement Trainee had an interaction with 5'th semB-section students on 02 November 2015. Headdressed topics related to the importance ofcommunication skills for fresher's and how to bridgethe gap between the academics and industryrequirements. He also highlighted the importance ofthe courses like CATIA,AUTO CAD, and AUTOCADINVENTORetc. to the demands of industry.

Mr. Vineeth Anand, Alumni 2010-2014 batch,currently working in ICICI, Bengaluru as DeputyBranch Manager had an interaction with 5'th sem Asection students on 19thSeptember 2015.

He addressed topics related to the importance ofcommunication skills for fresher's. He highlighted thedifference between the core and other areas which can

be focused for the employment opportunities. Beinginbanking sector, he shared his experience oninvestments and financial aspects of the market.

Guest Lecture

Mr. Shivakumar S, Manager- International Sales &Marketing, Triveni Turbines Pvt.Ltd was invited toaddress the students of 7th sem mechanicalengineering on 07thNovember 2015.He addressed thestudents about the theory of operation of gas turbines,its types and its application in the field of Automotiveand Marine. He also addressed the major challengesfaced like reducing the creep that is induced by thehigh temperature. The advances in the technology, itsadvantages and disadvantages in several fields.

Mr. Rishabh Tripathi, 5th sem, mechanical departmenthad undergone Industrial Internship Training inCentral Railway Coach Factory, Uttar Pradesh,Raebareli. He shared his experience and knowledgewith his classmates and other semester students. Hepresented a PPT on this during 26th August for 5thsemester Bsection and on 31st august for 5th semesterA section.
