3rd SEM TALK
The 3rd SEM TALK – Strategies21 – New Jobs for a New Future – took place on 9th October 2017, whose objective wasto promote transversal competences among the students.
This way, the students have developed several works within the classroom context. Each team had to
identify and find out a solution for the problem/situation that was given to them. So, during this SEM TALK the
students have presented the proposals they had worked in to a jury with representatives of the Royal School of languages, CATEC, Europe Direct Centre and EPA (Escola Professional de Aveiro).
The winner group, students of the 2nd year of the Communication, Marketing, Public Relations and
Advertising Vocational Course from EPA, presented their project at the Short Exchange in Hungary.
4th SEM TALK
On 14th December, it was held the 4th SEM TALK at Escola Professional de Aveiro under the theme Cultural Heritage, anticipating the chosen topic for the European Cultural Heritage Year in 2018.
The students, in pairs, identified, before a jury, problems re lated to the theme and proposed solutions in
order to revitalize or re-discover traditions, customs and/or the Portuguese cuisine, many of them lost in today’s
society and unknown by the youngest generations.
The winning project presented the tradition “Pãopor Deus” (Bread-by-God) and some proposals to put into practice. As an award, its authors represented Portugal in the following Short Exchange in Ödemiş, Turkey.
5th SEM TALK
Within the communication priority defined by The European Commission “European Agenda on Migration”,
it took place the 5th SEM TALK dedicated to the integration of migrants – Integration of migrants - cross cultural integration.
This way, the group of students was challenged to work on the topic and show their results. The
presentations were evaluated by a jury formed by a representative of both the Local Immigrant Integration Centre
and Europe Direct Centre. The winners presented their results in Italy, in the last Short Exchange of students.
All in all, Strategies21 Project has involved, for two years, all selected students in a very active way! All of
them have developed their soft skills, namely their public speaking skills, creativity, imagination, team work,
initiative, linguistic, cultural and intercultural skills, etc. They are now much more confident and autonomous and
bigger capacity of solving problems following deadlines.
2018 was our last project’s year. We started
with an interesting workshop for students - concerning
mobility opportunities - held by the Eurodesk Office in
Cagliari. The event focused on the topics of Pair work, European Solidarity Corps, Youth Exchange. It was explained
that all these opportunities represent a useful tool for reinforcing working competence, occupability and European Citizenship. Our students were enthusiastic and are even planning to spend a few months abroad in the summer!
Then, all students involved worked on the
preparation of the SEM Talk titled “New Job Opportunities
for the Young”, to be presented in Hungary. In the end, there
was a contest and 3 of our students were chosen to take part
in the mobility. The meeting in Mezőkövesd was interesting,
fruitful and enjoyable: our students are still in touch with
their partner friends and want to meet them again. It was
also very interesting to learn how to use needle and thread
to produce beautiful embroidery! And the visit to Budapest was fantastic…
When back to Italy, our project group organized a
structured activity for students, a “Cineforum” presenting a few
movies about the world of work and the use of soft skills. The
workshop was divided into the following steps: introduction to the
activity and short presentation of the movie; watching the movie;
thinking about the meaning of the story and discussion; filling in a
film analysis chart. The theme of how to use effective
communication, flexibility, teamwork, resilience, problem solving
and creativity (which we had presented in a workshop for students the previous year) always sat at the core of discussion.
After Christmas, it was time to prepare the following
mobility, the meeting to Turkey was approaching! Two of our students prepared their SEM Talk about “How to
Promote our Cultural Heritage”. Working on a presentation has always been a great opportunity to improve our
students’ English, acquire self-esteem, self- confidence and overcome anxiety: most of our pupils had never talked in
front of an audience, this was certainly an important training for them. Also, visiting such beautiful charming places
such as Pammukale and Ephesus was really appreciated by all.
At last, it was time to get organized for our meeting in Italy!
First of all, since there are no dormitories or canteen in our school, we asked our students to give their partners free accommodation. In the end, 14 host families were available and happy to meet their friends!
Soon after, a group of 13 students were actively involved in the meeting organization. In small groups, for 2 months, these students worked on the following:
Choice of hotel and restaurants (on the phone + face-to-face meetings with managers);
Choice and organization of excursions (time schedule, transport, packet lunch, budget etc);
Choice of gifts for partners
Invention of games and socializing activities for partner students, to be held at school
They did a great job, using soft skills to do something which proves to be hard and challenging for adults too!!!
Finally, in May, our partner friends joined us in Sardinia. This time, the SEM talk’s topic was “The integration
of Migrants and Cross-cultural Issues”, consequently a workshop on the integration of immigrants in Sardinia was
held, in English, by the Cultural Associations “Genti de Mesu” and “Gruppo di UmanaSolidarietà”. Also, we thought
that we do not only need to use soft skills in a job: we also need them in everyday life, in social life, at home in the
first place! That is why a cooking competition was carried
out, on a farm, as a workshop for students: all of them
worked in a team, using effective communication, problem
solving and creativity to make a dish of Italian ravioli in
tomato sauce. Food is an excellent tool for keeping people
together, in peace and friendliness, against all division! And
this is what we do every day in our school, which is a real place for inclusion, for the integration of all diversities.
During the week, we took our friends to the beach;
the city of Cagliari; the natural park of La Giara and the
archaeological site of Barumini.
Everybody was happy, above all students, who could
live a unique experience in the homes of their friends, like part of the family! For us, this was the most touching and fruitful outcome of our project, “Strategies 21”.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT II seminar and KEY COMPETENCES workgroup II
Our school continued with the new trend we started last year and we went deeper into project
management with teachers and students. As well as this, another group of teachers also attended another
course organized by our local Teachers' and Resource Centre.
On the other hand, we are also continue with a working group, for
the third year in a row, in which we worked on key competences
and how to evaluate them.
T
Students of the second cycle of secondary show an exhibition of their projects about the scientific method and how to solve different problems.
TALKS ON CYBER BULLYING
Staff of our local National Police is responsible for
giving a talk to raise awareness among students about
the dangers of the Internet.
In this talk, explanatory videos are shown about real
cases occurred in very nearby destinations, in order that
students perceived as true and actual risk of surfing the net without any control.
DAY OF PHILOSOPHY
On the occasion of World Philosophy Day, established by UNESCO, the Department of Philosophy
convened a contest during the month of November: Images to think consisting of choosing an
aphorism, phrase or philosophical thought and search for an image, drawing ... that complement,
illustrate or explain it. Students can make their own creation or use of all resources, both computing, and graphics needed for this.
During the second year of the Erasmus project "Strategies 21", the students of the Robert Wlérick high school in
Mont de Marsan worked on three topics:
New trades for a new future,
How to value the local heritage to transmit it,
How to promote the integration of migrants through culture.
On each project, the students, organized in groups, developed proposals related about the themes. They worked in semi autonomy to develop the necessary transversal skills in their future professional life: attention, teamwork, autonomy, initiatives, sharing ideas, oral and written communication abilities.... So
many skills to be highlighted.
For the first theme, the students organized themselves into spontaneous groups according to their affinity. They have done research, helped by their different
teachers on the jobs that will appear in the next years, in connection with new technologies or in other areas.
They chose something interesting for them. They made their research more precise to discover the opportunities that could exist one day, the existing
training and what new trainings could be envisaged, the impact of these new trades on society.
They used a slideshow to present their research. The presentation of their work was done in English, in front of a jury composed of teachers and an external participant, a trainer in a CFA. The topics selected by the students were: the new trades related to the development of data processing, the cloud management, the
social networks after the death of a person holding accounts, transport without driver, the breeding and the trade of Insects. The group of students who won this competition presented a work on the possible future
trade of climate controller. These students spent 5 days in Hungary (MEZOKOVESD) to participate to a meeting with their foreign partners. This international meeting enabled our students to put into practice professional and personal skills (autonomy, team spirit, communication in foreign languages, mutual
assistance …,).
In a second step, the students formed groups to think about the concept of heritage and proposed concrete actions to transmit it. One of the challenges was to educate young people about local heritage in an original and attractive way.
Several original ideas have been worked out: - - A rally race in the city presenting the
occupied and free zones during the Second World War,
- an interclass challenge on the discovery of
the course landaise with exhibitions, quiz, workshops, visits...
- The development of the Landes forest through museum visits and an orientation race
- The discovery of the traditional Landes games with workshops.
Then the students presented their project in English in order to be selected and participate in the European meeting in Turkey. The criteria were the quality of the presentation, the coherence of the project and its originality.
Two students were chosen by the jury to present their work at the European meeting in Odemis, Turkey. Accompanied by two of their teachers, the two young people were able to defend their project concerning the universe of the course landaise in front of their European counterparts. With music, films, costumes and
pictures, they tried to give life their presentation.
It was also for them the opportunity to discover for
five days a new country with its local heritage and human relations. This experience was very enriching.
For the last theme and meeting, the students worked on another
topic: the reception of migrants and their integration. First, they made researches on the subject: Definitions, statutes, laws... They also carried
out a questionnaire, interviews, meetings with local associations which help migrants in order to know the population of the department, the town and the school. Then they formed working groups and imagined
activities that would allow migrants to be integrated through culture. Finally, they presented their proposals in the form of a slideshow and
the team that did the best job was selected to go and represent the high school in Decimomannu in Sardinia.
Their proposals focused on integration through sport, gastronomy or local traditions. The project will involve participation in a competition proposed by the League of Human Rights, entitled "Open the door on
which I knock crying", with the participation of Cafémusic, a cultural association.
3rd SEM TALK
The 3rd SEM TALK – Strategies21 – New Jobs for a New Future
During the second year of the project,
3 SEM-talks were organized. The first was
hosted by Hungary covering the topic New
Jobs for a New Future The second one took
place in Odemish, Turkey covering the topic
Cultural Heritage and the third was in
Decimomanu, Sardegna, Italy on Integration
of Migrants – cross-cultural integration.
The 3rd SEM TALK – Strategies21 – New
Jobs for a New Future – took place on 4thof
October 2017. The main aim of SEM - talk
was to promote wide spectre of competences
among the students. The students, divided into groups of two, developed several presentations. Each team had
to identify and find out a solution to the problem/situation that was given to them. They presented their
solution in front of the school committee and their classmates.
The winners became students from 12A grade -RadenaTzoneva and from 12B Martin Bozhilov. They
demonstrated confidence, good topic competence and creativity and were chose n to present our school in the 3rd SEM talks held in Hungary where they won 1st prize.
4th SEM TALK
The selection process for the 4th SEM talks included preparation of PPT covering the topic "Cultural Heritage"
by the students of 11 grade, willing to participate in SEM –talks held in front of school commission where several groups of students presented their view on the aforementioned topic.
The selection of the best presentation was based on several criteria:
1. TopicDomain
2. Attitude, presence on stage and posture
3. Ownresources and materials
4. Creativity
5. Communicationskills
6. Rational and adequacy of the given solution
7. Feasibility of thesolution
Each member of the school committee gave their points from 1 to 5 on each criterion. The team/teams with the
highest number of points won the competitions and
presented 32nd school at the SEM-talks in Turkey and in Italy.
Selection for the 4th SEM –talk was held on 8th of January 2018.
The commission responsible for the selection process
included:
Ms Nelly Kostova – the Principal of 32 Secondary Language School " St. Kliment Ohridski"
Ms Rosanka Gogova – a Geography teacher

Mr PetarAleksiev – Bulgarian language and literature teacher
Mr IvayloNaydenov –teacher of History in English
10 students, divided into 5 groups presented their
PowerPoint Presentation on the topic "Cultural Heritage". Besides
PPT, each group had shown a material object related to the topic
discussed. One group created a calendar which included photos
of different “KUKERI” – masks. Another group presented an
educational card game invented by them. Each game -card
represents one of the 15 Bulgarian objects included in UNESCO
Heritage list. Two girls showed a presentation on Bulgarian
folklore songs as a cultural heritage and sang a famous folklore song in front of the audience.
Two presentations out of five were chosen by the selection
committee to represent our school on 4th SEM talks in Turkey.
They are as follow:
1. “Bulgarian Architecture” accompanied by a model of an old Rhodopi style house, designed and made by two
boys from 11A grade. 2. “Bulgarian Folklore” – accompanied by a “Bulgarian Folklore Book”.
The book included information about 7 Bulgarian folklore regions – traditions, customs, specific songs and
musical instruments etc. The most fascinating in this book were the embroideries specific for each of the
presented folklore regions, embroidered by the girls presenting the topic, themselves.
Implementation of artistic and very good presentational skills, expert knowledge on the topic discussed
and presentation of handmade products were amongst the main argumentshighlighted by the commission
to choose these two groups.
5th SEM TALK
Selection for the 5th SEM –talks was held on 12 of April 2018.
8 students, divided into 5 groups presented their PowerPoint Presentation on the topic “Integration of
Migrants”. Only one of the groups had an
intellectual product – a magazine written by
the time of two girls, which topics covered
migrants ‘stories, the problems faced
during the process of migration, possible
solutions of those problems and many
other cross-cultural issues. The important
complement to the magazine were small
leaflets with information covered in the
magazine.
The commission decided that it is the best product of all presented in terms of content, which closely
related to the topic of 5th SEM talks, expert knowledge on the topic discussed and presentational abilities of the team.
The second year of the Erasmus+ Strategies21 project
from the Hungarian point of view
During the first year of implementation of project all partners gained solid experiences about
international SEM (Smart Entrepreneurial Mind) Talk contests, because we all have taken part in two
successful contests of these, in France and in Bulgaria, working on topic of the healthy lifestyle and the
digital communication. So there is a lot to learn from them.
The Hungarian short exchange
came next in the second year of the
Strategies21 project with the “New job
opportunities” topic. It is a topic which is
relatively difficult for young people to
fully grasp, before of the local SEM Talk
competition, the numbers of the
vocational department made and shared
via school facebook website1 a detailed
call2, and organised discussions to make
it clear for the students what it actually
means and what kind of presentational
technics can be used (prezi, video,
interview…) To be succeed in the level of the local competition, our idea was to expand the number of the
involved students and not just the vocational students could take part in it but all students in our school.
After our accurate preparation work we could enjoy 8 team’s better and better presentations3 in the local
SEM Talk contest with full of ideas and solutions. Thanks to high level of the presentations we could choose
4 winner teams, which were evaluated based on the soft skills assessment sheet and they could show their
presentations in the international SEM Talks competition what was taken place from 6 to 10 November 2018
in Mezőkövesd with the participation of seven countries.
In addition to the international SEM Talk competition in Mezőkövesd what was won by Radena and
Milan from Bulgaria, we organised many cultural programs4 such as folk dance program5, creating
authentical Matyó folk workshop (drawing and colouring Matyó roses on bookmark, sewing little table
cloth…)

Due to our topic namely “New job opportunities” we
planned and run a workshop about the job and team building
activities in mixed groups. At each events, the most exciting
and memorable elements were the personal ones for the
students.
Beyond the organised programs at school, we visited Budapest,
Eger and enjoyed the bathing and swimming on the Zsóry Spa. The
project partners really appreciated our work regarding to organizing this
short exchange. Both foreign teachers and students were satisfied with
programs, accommodation and other conditions.
Following the project plan after the Hungarian meeting we also
took part in 3 meetings in spring, 2018, two of them were short
exchanges in Turkey (Ödemis) and in Italy (Sardinia), and the last one
was an extra final meeting in Spain (Don Benito) for only teachers to
evaluate work so far and discuss the opportunities of the collaborations
for the future. Unfortunately, in this last meeting we just participated in
from 4 countries (also with the Spanish team who hosted the event) but it was a very memorable and
enjoyable one.
Looking back, one of the greatest achievement
was the participation in the Strategies21 project that I am
proud of it the most. During the two-year work there
were difficult moments when organizing the events had
sometimes given us unusual challenges. But we stepped
over the obstacles and learnt from our mistakes. The
program caused a change of approach for the whole
school community, which I wouldn’t have imagined
before. In case of the students, the most important
benefit was that the project made them be interested in the given issues such as healthy life, digital
communication, new job opportunities, cultural heritage and migration and payed their attentions to the
importance of collaboration, finding right solution to the problems, developing soft skills like creativity,
communication, team work, assertiveness…etc. what are necessary for them for their successful future life.
We are closing this project as an experienced teacher staff and we are looking forward to such a following
opportunity.

Strategies21 project in numbers from the view point of the Hungarian partner
This Erasmus+ Project is a two year project. We
finished the first year and published 1st Newsletter. In
the second year of the Project, we also studied very hard
and produced very fruitful outputs. We produced bulletin boards before each mobility.
In November 2018, we visited Hungary with 3 teachers
and 2 students. The SEM Talk topic in Hungary was ‘New
Job Opportunities’. 2017-2018 School year started in
September in Türkiye, so didn’t have a lot of time to be
ready for SEM talk in Hungarian school. We organised a
competition to choose the best team. Ezgi ŞAHAN and
Damla Suzan KABAK were chosen to represent our school in Hungary. Both students and teachers had unforgettable moments in Mezőkövesd, Hungary.
The second mobility in the second year of the
project was to our country- Türkiye. We hosted 18
students and 14 teachers from our 6 different
partners. We visited our major Mr. Mahmut Badem
with the whole group on the 8th March. The 8th
March is celebrated the women’s day in Turkey so
the major gave carnation as a gift to the lady
teachers in the group. As the topic of the SEM talk
was on ‘Our Cultural Heritages’, we organised
several cultural trips (Ephesus and The White Travertines) to introduce Turkish cultural heritages to our
partners. We arranged two workshops: 1- Interactive group workshop (We aimed to increase students’ soft
skills and English speaking abilities.) 2- Making headband flower from silkworm cocoon. (As local people
produced silkworm cocoon in the past, we wanted to show something about our ancient culture.)
The third mobility was to Decimomannu, Italy. Before
we visited Italy, our students worked very hard and tried
to prepare their presentation. The SEM talk topic in Italy
was on ‘Integration of Refugees’. In Ödemişwe have some
refugee families from Syria. The participant students of
Italy- SudenazÖzcan and SılaOvalı visited ‘Çapacızade
primary school’ and had an interview with students from
Syria.
The last meeting was organised in Spain as the final meeting of our Project. The meeting was just for
teachers. We represent our country with four teachersfrom our school. We were all delighted at visiting
Spain and getting to know something about Spanish culture.
All mobilities were well prepared in each country and our teachers enlarged their teaching techniques,
methodology during the whole project process and can adapt them in our school and our teachers own life
as well. On the other hand, our students learned a lot from different cultures, improved their soft skills,
self-confidence and speaking their foreign language.
