Godrej LOUDMY DREAM….
Organic Manure Production by Vermicomposting
ByTanu Kaushik
Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi
The idea behind the production of organic manure from vermi-composting involves making use of the organic waste collected from nearby localities and dumping it in pits earmarked for this purpose. The process is carried out by utilizing earthworm activity.
After the organic waste turns into manure after 2-3 months, it can be sold to various entities.
My Dream…….
Workers are to be collected on fortnightly or monthly basis, not on daily basis.
An area large enough has to be identified and allocated for the purpose of digging large pits where the organic waste has to be dumped for it to turn into manure.
The logistics team will be collecting the waste from households and carrying it in trucks or trolleys to the pit.
Movable trolleys to collect waste from houses.
Requirements & Apparatus
The waste pickers will not be paid by households but by us and these pickers will collect the organic waste from every household on a daily basis and dump it in the main dustbin of the area for organic waste.
They will also empty the main dustbin into the truck as & when it will arrive.
This project will be started by initiating it in an area of about 5-7km as a pilot testing .Maximum possible residential societies will be covered under it and then gradually the scope can be widened to defence stations (like AIR FORCE HINDON) if any nearby, restaurants and cafe like Mc D'onalds, Haldiram etc.
Model
Nursery owners can be contacted to buy the manure or the manure can be bartered against exotic saplings, which may be planted in areas from where the waste was collected.
Rural retail outlets like Haryali Kisaan Bazaar, Godrej Adhar, etc can be contacted for selling the manure in packets of different size.
