About Shillong

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya, one of thesmallest states in India and home to Khansi,Jaintia and Garos. It is said that the rolling hillsaround the town remained the European settlersof Scotland. Hence, Shillong is known as‘Scotland of the East’. The months of March andApril are spring in Meghalaya, Except eveningsto be a little nippy early on, especially in thehigher altitudes. This means that Meghalayahighlands, especially the central Khansi Hills, become an oasis for travellers who want toescape the burning heat of the Indian Plains.
