Guideline #1
Be in your assigned seat and working on the bell ringer when the tardy bell rings.
Guideline #2Bring ALL required materials to class and take them with you when you leave.
Required items include: pens (blue or black ink only), pencils, paper, 3-ring binder designated for English only.
Obtain book when requested and return the book to the correct location before you leave (English only).

Follow directions the first time they are given.
Guideline #4
Treat each person in this room with respect and dignity.
Guideline #5
Follow all procedures and policies as outlined in the Secondary Student’s Rights and Responsibilities Handbook.
Follow all technology rules and procedures.
Acceptable Use Policy
Special Guideline
This classroom is a “No Whining Zone”. That means that there will be no whining, for ANY reason.
Everything that I do is in your best interest, so please…respect the “No Whining Zone” during the school year.
Guideline Infraction Notice
When placed on your desk, complete the form
Sign it
Keep it until the end of class and then give it to the teacher
Following the Guidelines will result in:

Not Following the Guidelines will Result in:

Severe Infractions
Any student who uses profanity, fights, damages school property (this includes the property of the teacher and other students), or is disrespectful (as defined by the teacher) will be sent to the Dean’s office with a referral.

When you have completed the bell ringer assignment, begin reading a story in your text.
Tardy Policy

Excused: Place excuse on teacher’s desk
Unexcused: Sign detention list
Have a seat and take out your materials
Getting Your Attention
I will:
Stand in front of the class
Raise my hand
Wait for everyone to be quiet
Begin speaking

In top right corner, write/type the following:

Class Name (English II or English II Honors)
After an Excused Absence
Check the teacher’s website to see what you missed.
Retrieve any handouts and complete.
You have three class days to return assignments.
No make-up work will be given for unexcused absences

Classroom Discussions
PLEASE participate with the class—no side conversations. I want to hear what you have to say, but your must raise your hand and be acknowledged by the teacher before you speak. Make all questions and comments relevant to the current discussion. If your question is off the topic, write it down and ask later.
Moving Around the Classroom
You must ask permission
Do not ask during a classroom discussion unless it is an emergency
Class Dismissal
The teacher dismisses you, not the bell
Do not start packing up prior to the bell
Wait until the teacher finishes and officially dismisses you with:
“Have a nice day”
