Mark Hagendorf, an exemplary man leading a charmed life, died Au- gust 17,2003 after a valiant battle with cancer. Mark was a man of action who tack- led each project with verve, address- ing every detail to his complete satis- faction. He was a dynamo, capable of balancing an intense career with a rich and active social life that brought him into the hearts of many. His clever intellect was fueled by his drive to learn and he studied exten- sively, not only to further his career, but also to pursue his love of the arts. He adored the cultural arts of New York City, his cherished and adopted home. Born September 14,1948 in Shiner, Mark always kept an eye on the future. After working for the University of Texas at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, he set his sights for Texas A& M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Land- scape Architecture in 1978. In 1981, he began working with PM Realty in Houston. In 1988, he moved to Long Island, New York, for PM Re- alty Group where he was the portfolio manager for the major facility for Che- mical Bank, now Chase Bank, until 2001. There, he directed 200 employ- ees, managing 65 commercial buildings and 400 retail branches totaling 1.6 mil- lion square feet in the New York/Metro area, New Jersey and Delaware. Mark received many awards. In 1990, he was honored nationally as Property Manger of the Year by Prop- erty Management Systems Inc. He was a member of the Society of -August 17, 2003 Property Professionals and the Build- ing Owners and Managers Association and earned the designations: Real Prop- erty Administrator and Facility Man- agement Administrator. He was also a registered landscape architect. Of all his accomplishments, what he prized the most were his wonderful relationships with scores of friends across the nation. Mark knew how to make friends feel important and his thoughtful gestures endeared him at all. Mark is survived by his parents, Willard and Irene Hagendorf of Sheri- dan; his wife, Jerry Sachs of Houston; brothers, Henry, Gordon and Troy of Houston, Barry of San Antonio, Mat- thew of Columbus and Leland of Se- attle, Washington; sister, Denise Lewis of Columbus; and his godchild, Tara Hagendorf of Houston. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Richard Boz, Mark's devoted friend, for his steadfast care and atten- tion during Mark's illness. The family also expresses gratitude to the Christa House Hospice Care Fa- cility in West Babylon, New York, for providing what Mark called "a little piece of heaven on earth" during his final days. Emma Powell Reggins September 4,1941 Emma Powell Reggins, 61, of Eagle Lake, passed away at 5:20 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at Co- lumbus Community Hospital follow- ing a sudden illness. A native and lifelong resident of Colorado County, she was born in Eagle Lake September 4,1941 to Lon- nie Powell and Idella Rogers Powell. She attended E.H. Henry High School and led a career as a nurse's aide for the Richmond State School for many years, and later worked for the First National Bank of Eagle Lake, prior to retirement. She and Philip Reggins Sr. were married in Eagle Lake on April 7,1962 she was affiliated with Mt. Olive Bap- tist Church of Eagle Lake and Mt. Mor- iah Baptist Church of Alleyton. Philip and Emma had been residents of Co- lumbus Care Center for about a year. He was born on October 13, 1922 in Eagle Lake to Mary Lee Arnett and Raymond R. Koh- leffel. A life-long resident of Eagle Lake, he graduated from Eagle Lake High School in May of 1941 and, on August 8, 1942, enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served honorably as a Boat- swain's Mate Second Class aboard the U.S.S. J. Franklin Bell in the Pacific Theater throughout World War II. Raymond patriotically spoke of his WWII days, recounting his arrival in Pearl Harbor only two days after the bombing and of his experiences in many invasions during his four-year tour of duty. He was honorably dis- charged on September 26, 1945. Returning to Eagle Lake, he began a long and distinguished career in rice farming. On May 3,1953, Raymond married Dorothy Mahalitc. He farmed first with his father, then later as a partner with uncle, Alvin Kohleffel, and lastly with his son, Allen Kohleffel. Throughout his rice farm- ing days, "Kohle" made many friends. Always one to comment and discuss local affairs, rice farming concerns and the weather, he rarely missed his daily stops at the coffee shop, barber shop or John Deere. Civically, he served as a member of the VFW Post 8783, Knights of Columbus Council 4843, Eagle Lake Fire Department and was a faithful pa- rishioner of the Roman Catholic Par- ish of the Nativity. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lee and Raymond Kohleffel; brother-in-law, Allen Dale Cassady; and his Kohleffel aunts and uncles, Myrtle Arnett, Willie Mills, Gladys Treybig and Alvin Kohleffel. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Kohleffel; daughter, Dina Marie Kohleffel of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Katrina Kohleffel; grandsons, Cody Allen and Cordale Raymond Kohleffel; and sis- ter, Dorothy Kohleffel Cassady, all of Eagle Lake; as well as the "Kohleffel First Cousins" and "Mahalitc in-laws".     OBITUARIES Francis Mark Hagendorf Raymond Lee Kohleffel October 13,1922 - August 17,2003

    September 14,1948 F. Mark Hagendorf, an exemplary

    man leading a charmed life, died Au- gust 17,2003 after a valiant battle with cancer.

    Mark was a man of action who tack- led each project with verve, address- ing every detail to his complete satis- faction. He was a dynamo, capable of balancing an intense career with a rich and active social life that brought him into the hearts of many.

    Raymond Lee Kohleffel, 80, of Eagle Lake, peacefully pass- ed away Sunday, August 17, 2003 at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Houston.
