Uploading a Video• Uploading from a PC• Uploading from a mobile device/tablet• NB: There are many programs will incorporate automatic uploading to YouTube such as Apple’s iMovie

application. Integration amongst Social Media apps is becoming very popular!

Essentially, a video can be uploaded in 4 steps:• STEP 1: Create an Account• STEP 2: Click UPLOAD• STEP 3: Select file for upload• STEP 4: Fill in data fields (name, description & tags)

Uploading from a PC1. Log into your YouTube account2. Click the UPLOAD button

a. Choose video fileb. Click OPEN

3. Once opened, the video will being uploading automatically…4. Enter the video details: name, description and tag.5. Choose privacy settings6. Optional:

a. Share with other social media networksb. Choose to monetize your videoc. Advanced settings

7. Hit SAVE

Uploading from a Device• Essentially same process as uploading from a PC, however:

• File must be located on your mobile/device• Upload directly after recording

• Either platform will probably utilize a ‘SHARE’ button

• Fill in video details – same process as PC

• Click PUBLISH

Tips• Read YouTube's Terms and Conditions on what and what not to post if you're

unsure about whether your content is acceptable.• Look at the most viewed videos for hints on the title, tags, and other things.• Make sure you don't post offensive things or you'll get dislikes and get reported.• Make sure you add captions so people will subscribe!• Try to give your video a description that doesn't just repeat the title.• If you are going to upload a video from Windows Movie Maker, make sure you've

saved it as a movie file. Only then will it be available to upload on YouTube.• If you want a lot of views, make the title simple, and keep your tags multiple but to

the point. You can include your username as a tag.• Put common words in your tags if your title is a little long.

Warnings• YouTube only allows a maximum of 15 minutes per video. If you continue uploading

videos that do not get turned down then you have the privilege to upload videos longer than 15 minutes.

• Don't post nudity in your video - your account will be deleted.

• Do not upload copyrighted material onto YouTube. It's against YouTube's user agreement, and the video with copyrighted material will get deleted as a warning. If you continue uploading copyrighted content onto YouTube, your account will be suspended.
