The mother of a seven-year-ol d penned her entry “KL: A to Z Fun Things to Do & Places to Visit with Kid s” in the Public categor y beat other entries. The Star ’s Youth deput y edit or Niki Che ong , won a Kia Optima Nov us for his entr y “My Bangsar” under the media category. Emila who was unable to attend the dinner held at the Sime Darby Conv enti on Cent re last night was represented by her husband, Mohd Zaim Mohd Tahet, 47. “She sent in her blog with a lot of illustra tions. I believe my son was a source of inspiration for her when she penned her digital illustration,” said Zaim. Niki Cheo ng, a blog ger since 2003, said he thoughthis entrywas app ro- priate because of his column in The Star, the Bangsar Boy. “I took an hour to drive around andtak e pic tures ofthe pla cesI use d to visit as a child. Everytime I passed by a plac e and rememb ered fond memories, I stopped and took pic- tures of it,” he said. The other winner s inc luded Barbara Mckay from Australia for the International category and Yeow Minyi for the Junior category. Federal Territories and Urban Well bein g Mini sterDatuk RajaNong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the blog was cr eated to have a posi ti ve approach towards blogging. “We got more than 4,000 entries and 300,000 pag e vie ws, out of whic h 24% were fro m over seas. I believe it is a big success. This will helppromo te Kuala Lump ur, Labuan and Putraja ya to the wor ld, said Nong Chik. He also said many of the entries focused on KL, possibly because of the big population. The panel of judg es included Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, Datuk Ahi rudin Att an (al so known as Rocky), Tan Sri Elyas Omar, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing and Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes.
