This is your big and new (not entirely) Intern Board team. Click on the photo!
Dear interns,
Happy last week of January! I hope you have all been getting your fair
share of sun and a well-deserved boost of vitamin D this week. Can these
be the first signs of spring?! Not quite, we still have a few months to go I
reckon. Be patient interns, before you know it we will be roasting by the
lake.
There are many things on the agenda for the following week. Firstly, our
hardworking co-president Gabriel is moving to another position. This
means that during today’s Coffee & Cake, there will be an election to
replace the irreplaceable! Be there to cast your vote… or just for the
coffee. We are also pleased to invite you to Apéro this friday. Come along
and catch up with friends in the lovely environment which is R3 south!
Mark the first small talk event of the year into your calendar. Next
Wednesday (3rd Feb), Head of Manufacturing, Mining and Energy, David
Seligson will be hosting a small talk looking at Global Supply Chains and
the International Labour Conference.

WANTED
We need a new Small Talks Officer! Interested?
Our dear Ellie is about to leave us and we need
someone to help her organise the next Small
Talks event, due to happen early in February.
She will teach the next Small Talks Officer all
there is to know. For those of you unfamiliar with
Small Talks: it is an event in which we invite an
ILO member of staff to teach us about their area
of expertise. It’s a great networking opportunity.
Contact us here.

FII Meeting of this week
It now seems more possible than ever that the
UN and other international organisation could
change their policies. France has committed to
raising the issue at the UN Fifth Committee

out how we can make sure that change
happens. More info on the Facebook Group.

How to live in Geneva on a stipend: the survey After much work and last minute changes our survey is finally ready! The goal is to have a better
understanding of what it costs to be an intern at the ILO in Geneva. We are hoping that the data
generated will help us get a better understanding of what interns' lives are like, and what
strategy the Intern Board should take to make them better! Please answer truthfully and to the
best of your knowledge. This survey is of course confidential. For those of you that are ex-interns
please answer with what you remember from your intern days. It would be great if you manage
to answer the survey before Friday, 29th of January. Stay tuned for information on the
background to the Living Wage Survey in this Friday’s blog post.

The Future of Work on camera
Can you imagine what your work life might look like in the
year 2030? What will your routine be? How will you make
money? How will your rights be defended? Inside, the ILO
internal newsletter, is calling on interns to share their
visions in the form of short videos. Why? To creatively
touch on the topic of Future of Work through young
people’s eyes. Find out how to participate by e-mailing
[email protected] or getting in touch with former intern Jone
Brunelle ([email protected]).
For questions, or comments or suggestions, please send us an e-mail to [email protected].
