And then I asked if we could make it a double date so that you could meet one of his

friends. Callie beamed, as if she had just won a Nobel prize.

WHAT? WHY? I yelled in disbelief, as I paused analysing myself in the full length mirror my

mum had placed in my bed room.

My eye-lashes weighed down by the three applications of mascara I had just used. Not

again! Callie had always tried to fix me up with boys. She claimed it would help me get over

Caleb. She has told me earlier this morning, two days after the soccer match, that we were going

somewhere tonight, I had suspected a club or a party but this never came to mind if it had I

would have said no.

Toni. I really love you and I really dont want you to spend forever hung up on a guy when you

refuse to go up and talk to him. If you dont want to do this for you please do it for me. I think

that Zack might be the one and besides I already asked him to bring one of his friends to meet

you. She gave the expected answer, in a desperately melodramatic tone.

I sighed she had always been there for me in her loveable way, she was just trying to

help. Besides she really did like the boy, Zack. He was blond haired all-American skater boy,

they had been going out for two months a record for Callie.

Okay. But is what I am wearing okay? I smiled, knowing that I had just made Callies day and

that soon she would turn into the teen-fashion-terminator.

Callie gave a fabulously melodious laugh. Stopping suddenly, she took in my baggy redsweatshirt and soccer shorts.

Oh hell no you are NOT wearing that! We are not going to P.E class. Its a good thing you have

me. She growled. And with that she literally jumped into my closetand began the legendary

teenage battle of pre-date clothes.

I just smiled wryly to myself as the soft lyrics to Nellys just a dream, drifted across my

lawn from Calebs house. How true they were

I was thinking bout you,

It was only just a dream

The loud base vibrated through the wooden floor-boards of my bed room and seeped

into my body. I was losing myself to the truth behind those words.

Yo! Gabe, man what are you doing ? Please tell me you are not wearing only your boxers to thedate. Dude, I might actually like this girl. My friend Zack, burst into my room rudely,

interrupting my thoughts which had been roaming a dangerous area.

What are you talking about? I murmured, dazed.

I told you. Wait, did I? Zack grunted. He was not exactly the intellectual type, more the zoned

out skater.

Anyways. Gabe, you know that girl Im always talking about? Callie yeah, she said that she has

this friend who is majorly in love with this guy- whatever . The thing is she wants to double

tonight. And I said I would bring you. He continued, way too quickly.

Dude, you have got to be kidding me? Why? I, practically, growled.

You are whipped man. You totally stopped youre respectable whoring; and all because you

want to be worthy of some girl. I am trying to save you. He reasoned.

Fine, just lemme chuck on some clothes.

I should hope so dude. Zack laughed at his attempt at wit.

I sighed, he was right I either had to get over Toni or make a play for her even if she had a

thing for my brother. But it was so not the time to think about that, I had a date.

Pulling on a my normal date clothes. I grinned, this girl - whoever she was had no clue what

was coming her way.

Five minutes later, Zack and I were climbing into my car. That was before all hell brokeloose. I heard a loud crack at the same time I felt pain erupt on my face. Someone had just

punched me. Blinking away the tears which threatened to appear and the anger which seemed

to be building in my body I opened my eyes to look upon my brother, Caleb.

What the hell? I cursed, resisting the urge to punch him.

She broke up with me. She broke up with me because of you Caleb spat. Obviously talking

about his girlfriend Anna.

What? I did nothing. I grunted, trying to ignore the pain in my jaw.

SHE WAS DATING ME TO GET TO YOU! He yelled.

Gabe, I swear to God dont open your damn mouth. I will get you back for this He said before

I could say anything.

I will get you where it hurts most Toni. He continued. I stood there frozen in shock.

See you on your date. And with that he walked away, laughing.

I was left getting into my car and driving away , wondering how he woul d hurt my girl
