IntroductionAccording toAmericanCollegeof Family Physicians, “Familymedicine is themedical specialtywhichprovides continuing, comprehensive health care for the individual and family. As an academic discipline, it includes comprehensive health careservices,educationandresearch.

Thespecialtyoffamilymedicinewascreatedin1969tofulfillthegeneralistfunctioninmedicine,whichsufferedwiththegrowthofsubspecializationandfragmentationofpersonalisedhealthcareafterWorldWarII.

In the increasingly fragmented world of health care, Family physicians are dedicated to providecomprehensivehealthcareforpeopleofallages—fromnewbornstoseniorsandtreatingthepersonaswhole.Unlikeotherspecialtiesthatarelimitedtoaparticularorganordisease,familymedicineintegratescareforpatientsofbothgendersandallages,andadvocatesforthepatientinacomplexhealthcaresystem.Familymedicine’scornerstoneisanongoingprocessofpatient-physicianrelationshipwiththepatientviewedinthecontextofthefamilyandtheirsocialsurrounding.

Semester-end3 assessments:Thesearegradedonlineassessments,MCQ-typetests,scheduledattheendofeverysemester.Candidateswillbequestionedonallthetopicscoveredinthatsemester.ThereareapredeterminednumberofMCQstobeansweredinastipulatedperiodoftime.Oncesubmitted,they cannot be reattempted for a better score. The score will carry weightage towards Formativeassessment.

Final End-course Graded Exams [FGA]:Thefinalexam,whichisthesummativeassessmentisalsooftheMCQ-type,andwillbeadministeredon-line,aftercompletionoftheCoursecurriculum.
