As we can see, I am the artist being included on the front cover and double page spread. This is because I am actually a hip-hop artist and do short videos on Facebook and Instagram

There are a number of hip-hop positions/poses that I attempted to adopt in order to give me a wide range of photos to choose from. Notice how all the facial expressions are solemn and rather serious – this is a classic hip-hop stance

The photo shoot plan was to really contrast me with the background. So I appear very dark whilst the background is bright and clear. This really makes the artist, me, stand out

This position is different to the others for a reason – this is the image likely to be used on the double page spread article. If there are two images of the artist standing it can be boring and very mediocre

Here we can see some more photos taken with slightly different takes on them. This one comes across as more ‘cool’ and ‘arrogant’, two very important factors that should be displayed in a hip-hop magazine

This is the first picture we see where the artist is not looking into the camera. This image reflects a sense of isolation and thoughtfulness in the artist, again two crucial aspects of hip-hop that ought to be in a hip-hop magazine

This final image shows a more menacing and intimidating look where the artist has his hood on and is looking away. Again these two factors are extremely important in the hip-hop industry and also need to be included in a hip-hop magazine

It has been concluded that the last image on the previous slide (one where artist is sitting down) is going to be used for the double page spread article and the second image on this slide (one where artist is looking down to his right hand side) is to be used for the front cover. This is because the image where the artist is sitting down reflects thoughtfulness and essentially ‘being lost in the music’ which would be very suitable for the article which is likely to be an interview with the artist. The image where the artist is looking down to his right hand side also reflects thoughtfulness and also isolation which would be perfect for a front cover because it straight away shows that it is a hip-hop magazine

This black hoodie with leather sleeves was chosen as the top half of the costume because it contrasts with the brighter background and it conveys an idea of mysteriousness and power, crucial to hip-hop

Beats Solo HD by Dr Dre headphones was the only prop used and it was used to inevitably represent music and hip-hop in particular because Dr Dre, a hip-hop artist, founded these headphones. They stand out due to their bright colour contrasting with the dark colours of the costume and my hair and skin tone
