4 Configuration and Installation Guide for the imagePRESS C700 with imagePRESS Server G100
Chapter 1: Introduction The settings in this guide were specified by FedEx Office Asset Management for use across all imagePRESS C700 devices in their fleet that are in a Full-Service environment. Important Any imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5051/5045/5035 being removed from a FedEx Office center must have its Hard Disk Drive erased using the single pass process native to the device. The imagePASS must have a [Clear Server] performed. This can be done by running setup from the iR ADVANCE or Command Workstation. A form confirming this has been completed can be found in the Appendix of this Guide and should be countersigned by the Center Manager and the Technician before sending the form to the email address on the form. It is acceptable to leave a copy of the form with the Center Manager if they request it. Important It is essential that any device installed in a FedEx Office center is configured to the specifications identified in this Guide. As a result the imagePRESS C700 Configuration and Installation Guide applies long after the installation has been completed. Important FedEx Office Asset Management planners have confirmed the installation date and the devices to be removed with the Center Manager and their District Manager. If you are asked to deviate from the installation plan in any way, for example, delaying the installation to another day, leaving a legacy device rather than picking it up, delaying removal or clearing of the HDD for more than a reasonable amount of time, or using settings that are different from what is contained in this Guide, inform the FedEx Office Center Manager to contact their District Manager or their Asset Management Team at FedEx Office Headquarters for approval.
Important Upon completion of the installation, the imagePRESS C700 Post Installation Checklist, the Certification of Canon Machine Hard Disk Drive Erase, and the Training Checklist for the imagePRESS C700, must be signed by the Technician and Center Manager (or their designee). The Technician must then scan all three documents and email them to: [email protected]. If the Center Manager (or their designee) refuses to sign any of these documents, you should indicate this refusal to sign on the bottom of the particular form.

Before proceeding with installation, make sure that you have the following: NOTE: FedEx Office specific engines have started shipping. These devices already have the speed license installed and [imagePRESS C700] emblem affixed. These engines have serial numbers that begin with [WHV]. Please pay special attention when starting Chapter 4 of this guide to the instructions as they relate to the speed license.
• Tools • Hammermill 28lb 11x17 paper
• FedEx Office center IP Address information
o Ask Center Manager for Network Map Centers are in process of changing IP numbers. You will need to ask the center manager if they have already been part of the FXO ReIP. If available please use IP address assigned to the imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5051/imagePASS-B1 being removed from the center.
• License Access Number (LAN) for Speed License (eLAN) • License Access Number (LAN) Web Access Kit (included in imagePRESS

Chapter 2: Preparing the Device Being Removed Two steps are required before beginning installation of the imagePRESS C700 • Securing a Fiery Configuration Page from the device(s) being removed. Make note of
the IP address for the device being removed because the device being installed will use the same IP address.
• Erasing customer data from the Fiery and imageRUNNER ADVANCE Hard Disk Drives.
1. Securing a Fiery Configuration Page (IP Address Information)
FedEx Office is redeploying IP addresses under a new network scheme. As a result it is not possible at the writing of this document to identify the IP address information needed to complete an installation correctly. The best process to use under these circumstances is print a Fiery Configuration Page to capture the IP addresses of the devices that are being replaced, and to provide this information to the installing Technician for use when installing the replacement device(s). Printing a Fiery Configuration Page a. From the engine control panel, press Main Menu button. If the Fiery icon does not
appear on the copier touch panel, press Show All. b. From the copier touch panel, select Fiery Button > Info > Print pages >
Configuration > Yes. Wait for the Configuration pages to print.
2. Performing a clear server on the imagePASS-B1
Before the device is removed from the Center, the imagePASS HDD needs to have all the jobs deleted. This is done at the engine UI with the following steps: a. Select [Show All] b. Select [Printer] c. Select [Run Setup] (This will take approximately 2 minutes then a login will appear) d. Enter the password [Fiery.1] e. Scroll to page 2 then select [Clear Server]
3. Erasing customer data from the Hard Disk Drive
Before a device is removed from the FXO Center, the HDD must be initialized using the “Initialize All Data/Settings” function on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE device. This is done in user mode with the following steps:
- Select [Settings/Registration] - Log into the device using the center password (center number) - Select [Management Settings] - Select [Data Management] - Select [Initialize All Data/Settings] - Select [OK] to initialize the HDD

Important Once the process has been run, the Hard Disk Drive Erase Form found on e-Support and in the Appendix of this document should be completed by the Technician and signed by the Center Manager. It is the Technician’s responsibility to scan and email the completed form to the email box identified on the form so that it is confirmed that Canon has complied with this data security requirement.

Chapter 11: Quality Validation Process A two-step process is required to ensure the imagePRESS C700 is making high quality prints after installation has been complete. The process involves:
- A visual inspection/comparison of image quality - Measurement of color quality
The role of Canon Technicians in this process is to:
- Participate as an observer in the visual inspection/comparison - Participate as an observer in the color quality measurement step (PPA
Verification Print) - Resolve any image quality problems that have been found.
Quality Validation Visual Inspection/Comparison The Center Manager prints the Quality Validation Proof (“Narrow Format Validation Proof v1” file) from PPA on the imagePRESS C700 being tested using 11x17 24lb. laser paper.
Note: A Validation Master print has been provided to all FedEx Office Centers by FSO (FedEx Support Organization). The Center Manager should lay the Validation Proof next to the Validation Master on a flat surface, preferably one with even lighting. Visually inspect and compare the Validation Proof to the Validation Master looking at each section for the following:
• Solids: There should be no mottled appearance, graininess or any other visual defect
• Gradients: There should be no banding or streaks. • Registration: Lines should be solid black with no other colors showing. • Resolution: All lines should be printing, be straight and no stair stepping. • Image Position: The green mark should be showing at each corner. • CMYK Images and RGB Images: The images should be visually similar to the
Validation Master. • Spot Color: A correct spot color target should be a solid purple square. • Font Size: The smallest readable type should be the same size as the smallest
readable type on the Validation Master. • Moire: The lines should be sharp and straight, no patterns. • Gray Balance: The gray squares and circles should be the same color as the
squares and circles on the Validation Master. • PPA Verification: Confirms if the file was printed through the PPA workflow. • Gray Scale: The image should be visually similar to the Validation Master. • Uniformity: Gray bars should be even and consistent across the page. No light
or dark areas.

Color Verification Measurement The color quality measurement process has two main components:
• The FedEx Office Printer Color Verification application using a Spyder Colorimeter. • The Print Verification Chart.
The Center Manager launches the PPA Printer Color Verification application and prints the Printer Color Verification Chart that has 29 color patches. The Center manager then uses the Spyder Colorimeter to measure the L.A.B values for each of the patches on the chart. The application will determine whether or not the color values measured for each patch are within the acceptable range FedEx Office and Canon USA have agreed to. In cases where Printer Color Verification Chart does not pass, the technician should take remedial steps to improve the print quality. If the technician requires assistance, they should contact Canon’s Technical Support Center @ 1-800-528-2830. Sample of the printed Printer Color Verification Chart.
