Dear friends in the Lord, Happy Labor Day Weekend! I pray that all of you will be able to enter into the holiday in such a way that it is restful and rejuvenating. Please note that the Labor Day Mass
will be celebrated at 9:00 AM, and that there will not be Mass in the evening that day. I also want to say that I am excited to announce that GIFT registration will open up after Labor Day. Last year we were able to focus on Christian Prayer and each month we took a deeper look at what it means to have a life of prayer and the various ways that we can pray. This year we are going to focus on the Creed and coming to know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This Fall semester is going to look a little different but along with Kris Conrad, we are confident that it’ll be a great experience. Please be sure to register your family so that we can make sure to have enough resources. Lastly, next weekend we are going to have our annual backpack blessing for all students and teachers. At each Mass, we will invite students and teachers to stand for a special blessing. Students can bring their backpacks to Mass if they would like and we will pray for another successful school year. The blessing will be on the livestream so even if you are at home you can still have your backpack blessed! To Jesus through Mary, Fr. Chris

The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana provides food to more than 25,000 families each month through their network of agencies. With the pandemic, the need this year is even greater. They are proud to present the 2020 Hunger Hike which is a two mile walk/run/bike event with proceeds being used to stock the shelves of local pantries and soup kitchens. This year 100% of the money raised by St. Teresa’s team will be given back as credit to be used for Café Manna! So, not only is your $1 providing up to three meals to our neighbors in need, it is also benefiting our own soup kitchen! If you would like to give to this wonderful cause, here’s how you can donate: 1. Visit www.foodbanknwi.org/hike Select our team name, St. Teresa of Avila-Café Manna, under Donation Recipient. 2. Place your donation (checks should be made out to Hunger Hike NOT St. Teresa of Avila) in a SEPARATE envelope labeled Hunger Hike, drop it off at the office or put it in the weekly collection. 3. Food Drive It's hard to believe that our Hilltop Food Drive has been going on for 20 weeks. But, it's not a surprise that our amazing St. Teresa's Community is still going strong! We collected 35 bags this week for a total of 856 bags. The need is real and the love you have shown is beyond measure. According to Lisa Pavlopoulos at Hilltop Food Pantry, no matter how many bags we bring, it's always enough!
