• Imagine you were describing the culture of England to a friend who didn’t know the country.

• What images would you think of?• Write a list of 10.

• Here are a few to get you started….

• Now compare your list with your group.

• Is it the same?

• Why do you think some things are different?

Key ideas!

• England has a very mixed culture because it has been conquered by many different groups of people.

• We have brought back culture from countries we have conquered in the past.

• Even now our culture is changing.

Main activity 2

• A Japanese official is visiting England for the first time. She wants to get a ‘real taste’ of England.

• Create a PowerPoint to present to the class to show where you would take her and what you would do. This should be presented in pictures.

• Use your images of England as a starting point.

• Make sure she gets experience of the whole English culture!

• Each image should be given a title which DESCPICTS the unique culture of England.
