Stalin’s Marxist Communism taught that history is a relentless battle of one entire economic class against another. This could easily lead to a view that entire classes, not individuals, were to be blamed for wrongdoing.

“Kulaks” were supposedly wealthy farmers, but Stalin used this label for anyone opposed to collectivism

The Holocaust Story

Rise of the Nazi Party

Believed Jews (and immigrants, gypsies, or racially mixed people, disabled in any way, homosexual, and anyone with “non-aryan” features) were subhuman and they needed to have a “pure race.”

As head of Nazi party, Hilter won in narrow elections, which meant a massive opposition needed to be eliminated. All other political parties illegal.

Rule through the SS (secret police force) and terror.

With the rise of the Nazi Party, many fled Germany

Many could not.

It cost a lot of money.Many countries had strict quotas for how many refugees they

would allow and so they were denied entryMany had lived there for generations, owned land, veterans of

WWI and were proud of being German.As Hitler conquered other countries, the same laws and

camps went into effect.

Resistance Fighters Attempted to carry on a semblance of "normal” life in the

face of wretched conditions Jewish schools set up

The observance of many Jewish rituals, including dietary laws and celebrations.

The Terror and Inhumanity “checked” most attempts to

resist and organize. Examples: Women who tried to speak out, had children

executed before them. Homes suspected of hiding non-Aryan children

were systematically killed. Babies were thrown out of high apartment

buildings. Round-ups of “suspicious” neighborhoods led to

death by firing squad.

jokes? How it can destroy millions of lives for

generations?
