1 All booking forms should be accompanied by a deposit of £300 per person for each itinerary, preferably no later than six weeks before departure. In return, you will receive our confi r-mation invoice.

2 The balance should be paid at least three weeks prior to departure in the case of UK clients and fi ve weeks in the case of overseas clients. Otherwise we reserve the right to cancel reservations and levy cancellation charges.

3 At the time of booking, clients are strongly advised to takeout comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance, either directly or through Trans Himalaya. Details of insurance plans will be forwarded with the confi rmation.

4 An alteration fee of £40 will be charged if you wish to transfer to another tour after making a confi rmed reservation. If you wish to transfer less than three weeks before departure, the appropriate cancellation charges may be levied.

5 If we are notifi ed of any unforeseen changes to the itinerary before departure, you may transfer or cancel without charge. If such changes beyond our control should occur during the tour, Trans Himalaya reserves the right to alter the scheduled programme. We also reserve the right to cancel any tour if the minimum economic number is not reached, in which case you may transfer or cancel without charge.

6 If, once confi rmed, you wish to cancel your tour, please inform Trans Himalaya in writing as soon as possible, stating the reason for cancellation. Cancellation charges prior to departure are applicable as follows: More than 50 days: deposit only; 22-49 days: deposit or 20% of tour cost if greater; 10-21 days: 50% of tour cost; less than 10 days or curtailment: 100% of tour cost. Note that tour prices are subject to revision in the event of a marked increase in foreign currency or tariff rates beyond our control.

7 Customised itineraries can be prepared for private groups requiring special permission for travel in the Tibetan plateau region. A fi le fee of £60 per person is chargeable for this

9 Responsibility Clause: Trans Himalaya acts only as an agent for airlines, hotels and local tour operators, and is not responsible or liable for problems

arising in transportation or hotel arrangements beyond its control or ownership, nor for any loss, injury or damage to person or property, nor for any delays in transportation. Trans Himalaya reserves the right to withdraw such a tour or any part of it, to alter the itinerary if necessary or desirable, to refuse to accept or retain, without refund or compensation, any tour member who is reasonably considered to be disruptive, and to pass on any expenses incurred through delays or events beyond their control. Airline carriers are not responsible for omissions or events occurring when passengers are not on board their aircraft, and while onboard, their normal conditions or carriage invariably apply. Any claim or complaint should be made to us in writing within 30 days after the trip, and may be referred to binding arbitration.

Preparing for your trip

1 Passports and Visas: A passport valid for the minimum of 6 months from departure is required for all journeys. Nepal and China visa application forms are obtainable through Trans Himalaya and should be returned at least twenty-one days before departure. Note that the cost of the visas is not included in the tour price.

2 Medical Information:No vaccinations are required for China and Nepal but anti-malaria medication is recommended for the latter. If you are over sixty-fi ve years of age, we require a medical certifi cate signed by your doctor along with the completed visa forms. We will advise you of any change in health requirements occurring at short notice. In view of the demanding nature of our tours, all travellers are recommended to consult their doctors, whether using prescribed drugs or as a precautionary measure for travel and altitude sickness.

3 Baggage: The tour price includes all handling of 44 lbs. (20 kgs.) baggage per person, and any charges for excess baggage should be paid on the spot by the individual concerned. Baggage and personal effects are taken at the owners own risk throughout the tour and baggage insurance against loss and theft is recommended.

4 Pre-tour Information and Briefi ng:An information package will be forwarded to you before departure. Briefi ngs will be given either by email or at the local departure point (in the case of groups accompanied by a Trans Himalaya tour leader).
