OUR CONDUCTORS AND SOLOIST

SIMEON LORING is the Stockbridge Sinfonia's music director and has been its conductor for six years. Simeon retired as chair of the music department and is Professor of Music Emeritus at Kingsborough College (CUNY). He was a member soloist, and conductor of the Goldman Band. He is the clarinetist with L'Amore della Musica, a professional woodwind quintet in New York City and volunteers at the Amato Opera, where he also plays in the orchestra. He is on the Board of Directors of the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation.

LEONARD MARCUS is conductor emeritus of the Stockbridge Sinfonia. ill 1975, he became conductor of the Stockbridge Chamber Orchestra, which later would become the Stockbridge Sinfonia. Leonard also served as assistant to the conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony, editor-in-chief of High Fidelity and Musical America magazines, and chainnan of the Montreux and Koussevitzky International Record Awards. He divides his time between New York City and Lenox.

NAN TRABKA, our principal cellist, is ajunior majoring in cello at the University ofMassachusetts. His teachers have included Sibylle Johner, Anne Legene, Jay Schulman, Helene Annas, Arthur Cook, and Alia Zernitskaya. He is currently studying with Astrid Schween. Ivan says, "To have talent bears with it the responsibility of using it for the good of others. Performing with the Stockbridge Sinfonia means having the opportunity to serve my community in the best way possible."

We welcome contributions to the Sinfonia's AI Ludwig Memorial Scholarship Fund and Bernice Black Scholarship Fund. AI was a founding member and president of the Sinfonia. Bernice was the orchestra's concertmistress for many years. Both encouraged student participation in the orchestra. Scholarships are awarded annually to students demonstrating talent and commitment to the orchestra.
