Congratulations to room 31 on having full attendance last week. Their teacher will let them know the reward. Please note that notification in writing, with the reason for all absences, to the teacher is required. A letter or note in the homework journal will suffice.

A chairde,

School is closed for the pupils tomorrow, as they teachers have in-service training on the New Language Curriculum. Please make the necessary arrangements.

Congratulations to all involved in our Musical: Seussical Jr-The Musical. It was magnificent and was of such quality that it could proudly have been performed at The Gaiety Theatre. It was somewhat of a financial gamble, costing over €8,000 to stage. We are delighted to report that it sold out on the three nights and we have covered these costs. We expect to be able to lodge monies not required into our Music Fund, which covers purchase of musical instruments and other costs associated with Banna (our school band) and Cór (our school choir). I wish to thank our school community and the people and businesses of Trim for their support. Huge thanks are due to Ms Debby, Ms O Connor and Ms Mc Kenna for giving so generously of their time, to the pupils for their excellent efforts and also to all the staff at St Mary’s for their support. As our school motto says, there is strength in togetherness: Ní Neart Go Cur Le Chéile.

End of year Reports: Due to the new data protection legislation, reports will NOT be sent by email this year. They will be posted, with booklists, on Friday June 22nd. This will allow you time to make an appointment to see us, before school closes, should you have any concerns. Please contact us by the Wednesday June 27th, if you have not received yours. This letter is being sent by hard copy as well as email. If you have not received it by email also, please contact the school to ensure that we have the correct email.

Furniture for sale: We have some pupil tables and chairs for sale, in good condition, to suit ages 3 to 5. Tables cost €10 and chairs €5. The number is limited and “when they are gone, they are gone!” Contact the office, for further details.

Green News

Our garden is looking glorious in this weather. We are expecting our Pride of Place visitors next week. The gardening committee are ready!

It is real WOW weather! We hope more walkers will participate over the next few weeks. Meet up at Mornington House at 9 am or at the Matchbox. The teachers will escort pupils up to the school from there. We will be organising a bumper COW day during Be Active week. We hope lots of pupils will cycle that day. We will give you all more details next week. Our plans to install a swift box are going well. BirdWatch Ireland is checking out the place we propose to position the box. A special device will also be fitted which will make a swift call, luring the swifts to nest. It will be very exciting to watch this happen. We always have something cool happening in St Mary’s!
