8 Future ProspectsIBM, in an analyst meeting held atBangaloreon June 6, 2006 stated that IBM's India plans are for the long term & committed to invest $6 billion in the next three years in India, triple the amount invested in the three years preceding the meeting."IBM plans to make all of its key software products as well as its hardware compatible with grid computing," Gordon Haff, a senior analyst at market research firm Illuminata, told TechNewsWorld.IBM's Distributed Terascale facility, for example, is a grid-computing project designed to allow researchers to perform 13.6 trillion calculations per second, making the series of connected computers 1,000 times faster than IBM's chess-playing Deep Blue machine.
