  • IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH January 26, 2020 Our apostolate will be mighty forces if it comes from one united Assembly, who are enthusiastic to part take in Sunday Eucharistic celebration. Together we can win, divided we fall. We Christians are gathered together every Sunday by the same Word, joined together by the same Baptism, framed together by the same Spirit and built together by the same Christ. Most of the time, we lack zeal and enthusiasm to listen the Word of God and walk with the Word of God. Our first part of the Mass is breaking of the Word of God. It is so important to be part of the celebration of the Word of God. My deepest concern is for our faithful who comes late to every Sunday Mass if we miss first part of the Mass then our Sunday Celebration remains incomplete. In September 2019, Pope Francis mandated the observance of the, SUNDAY OF THE WORD OF GOD, Third Sunday in Ordinary Time. This year that falls on January 26, 2020. The goal is to foster the love of Sacred Scripture as well as reinforce evangelization, catechesis and ecumenical and interreligious dialogue. Some simple actions that a community might take to observe this day include the following:

Enthrone the sacred scripture during the Eucharistic liturgy: Veneration of the Word of God. Highlight the proclamation of the Word Emphasize in the homily the honor due the scripture

It is not only that we listen the Word of God in the Sunday liturgy but each believer can also practice divine reading anywhere, at home, office, adoration chapel or any other place and any time. It is called Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina is a reflective reading of Scripture. It is a method of prayer that leads us into the deeper meaning of Scripture that transforms our live. According to Pope Benedict XVI in the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, ‘Verbum Domini’ (no.86-87), Lectio Divina is broken down to the following steps named in Latin. First step: (Lectio) Read: the Scripture passage for the first time. Listen with the “ear of your heart.” What phrase, sentence or even one word stands out to you? Begin to repeat that phrase, sentence or one word over and over, allowing it to settle deeply in your heart. Simply return to the repetition of the phrase, sentence or one word, savoring it in your heart. Second step: (Meditatio) Reflect: relish the words. Let them resound in your heart. Let an attitude of quiet receptiveness permeate the prayer time. Be attentive to what speaks to your heart. Moment of grace, moment of God’s talking to us. Third step: (Oratio) prayer: Respond spontaneously as you continue to listen to a phrase, sentence or word. A prayer of praise, thanksgiving or petition may arise. Offer that prayer, and then return to repeating the word in your heart. Fourth step: (Contemplatio) transformation: Rest in God. Simply “be with” God’s presence as you open yourself to a deeper hearing of the Word of God. If you feel drawn back to the scriptures, follow the lead of the Spirit. The encounter leads us to transformation and to action.

    Fr. Joachim Lepcha

DID YOU KNOW? Evaluate relationships based on context

We may think we know enough about appropriate boundaries in relationships, but boundaries are complicated, even for adults. Children rely on adults to define what is appropriate and what isn’t, in the context of the relationship. For example, some touches are “safe” or “unsafe” depending on who is in the relationship — a parent, a stranger, a teacher, etc. For more information, get a copy of the VIRTUS® article “Keeping in Touch with Important Distinctions” from http://www.la-archdiocese.org/org/protecting/Pages/VIRTUS-Current-Online-Articles.aspx.

¿ Sabia Usted ? Evalúe las relaciones con base en el contexto

Podemos pensar que sabemos suficiente sobre los límites apropiados en las relaciones, pero los límites son complicados, aun para los adultos. Los niños dependen de los adultos para definir lo que es apropiado y lo que no es, en el contexto de las relaciones. Por ejemplo, algunas caricias son “seguras” o “inseguras”, dependiendo de quién haga las caricias, un padre de familia, un extraño, un profesor, etc. Para más información, obtenga una copia del artículo de
