THE MISSIONARIES OF OUR LADY OF LA SALETTE
PREACHING OF ANNUAL PARISH MISSION APPEAL
Having brought the fullness of Life to our world when He rose from the dead, Jesus sent his disci-ples to share this life with all of creation. “They went forth and preached everywhere” ( Mk 16: 20). The Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette minister to people of every race, language, culture and way of life—beginning at the La Salette Shrine in France where our Blessed Mother appeared in 1846. Her final words, “Well, my children, you will make this known to all my people,’ echo Jesus’ Gospel man-date. It is a little wonder that the La Salette Congre-gation has always been mission orientated. When called upon by the Vatican to preach the Gospel in foreign lands, they eagerly responded. This spirit brought them to mission in 27 countries, especially among the poor in Angola, Argentina, Bolivia, Bra-zil, Haiti, India, Madagascar, Myammar and the Phil-ippines. With your cooperation, the Missionaries of La Salette can continue to provide spiritual and fi-nancial assistance to these mission countries as they bring God’s reconciling message to the poor. This special collection will take place JULY 18-19! _________________________________________________ This weekend, the burning of the Sanctuary Can-dle, the reminder of the Lord’s Presence in the Most Holy Eucharist, and the Altar Bread and Wine are in appreciation of our Parish Family.
Thank you and many blessings!

MIDWEEK REFRESHER READ: Mark 5:21- 24;35-43
REFLECT: Today we are invited to reflect on life and to hope in an imperishable existence. We rarely advert to life until it is threatened. Then it appears all the more precious to us for its very fragility. The faith of Jairus, whose twelve-year-old daughter is at death's door, and the faith of that desperate woman whose life has been ebbing away with her blood for twelve years should be our faith. At the juncture of these two intertwining sto-ries, there is in fact but one point of emphasis. Jesus does not disdain the naive, almost superstitious faith of the woman with a hemorrhage who furtively touches him in the hope of being healed. Nor does he ignore the frantic faith of Jairus who has no other answer for the doubting crowd. To them, it is all too clear that no one can do anything against death. For Jesus, death is but a sleep which awakens to a morning of resurrection. Hope sleeps in each of us. We must regularly take its hand, awaken it, set it in motion. This marvel is possi-ble only by faith in the One who can make our nights, however dark they may be, give way to an Easter morn-ing. PRAY: Pray for the grace of faith that Jesus is our only hope in the face of death. ACT: Pray for someone who is seriously ill.
