PRAYER + WORSHIP
2 | IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH - MALDEN/MEDFORD
SACRIFICIAL GIVING
PRAYER TO SAINTS JOACHIM AND ANNE Good parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary, grandparents of our Savior, Jesus Christ,
When life seems barren, help us to trust in God’s mercy. When we are confused, help us to find the way to God.
When we are lost in the desert, lead us to those whom God has called us to love.
When our marriage seems lifeless, show us the eternal youth of the Lord.
When we are selfish, teach us to cling only to that which lasts.
When we are afraid, help us to trust in God. When we are ashamed,
remind us that we are God’s children. When we sin, lead us to do God’s will.
You who know God’s will for husband and wife, help us to live chastely.
You who know God’s will for the family, keep all families close to you.
You who suffered without children, intercede for all infertile couples.
God of our fathers, you gave Saints Anne and Joachim
the privilege of being the parents of Mary, the mother of your incarnate Son.
May their prayers help us to attain the salvation you have promised to your people.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Collection at Masses … $6848.00 in the mail … 1355.00 on line giving … 673.00 Weekly Offertory - Total … $8876.00
Please be generous to the Offertory Collection remembering your parish during these summer months.
THE FEAST OF SAINTS JOACHIM AND ANNE
Each year the Church venerates the memory of Saints Anne & Joachim on July 26th. An ancient story dating to the first centuries of the Church’s life recalls how Saints Anne & Joachim, like Abraham and Sarah, were scorned by their neighbors because they had no children. Years of longing did not
weaken their trust in God, but grief eventually drove Saint Joachim into the wilderness to fast and pray. Saint Anne, remaining at home, dressed in mourning clothes and wept because she had no child of her own. Seeing her distressed, a servant girl reminded Anne to put her trust in God. Saint Anne washed her face, put on her bridal clothes and went to a garden to plead with God for a child. Angels appeared to Saint Anne in her garden and Saint Joachim in the desert, promising that, despite their old age, they would give birth to a child who would be known throughout the world. The new parents ran to meet one another at Jerusalem’s Golden Gate, and with a kiss rejoiced in the new life which God had promised would be theirs. Saints Anne and Joachim are powerful intercessors for all married couples, expectant mothers and married couples who are having difficulty conceiving, as well as grandparents and all who have grown old. The Church throughout the world will celebrate the Feast of Saints Joachim and Anne on Tuesday, July 26th. May this feast remind us to honor our parents and grandparents and to always remember that older people’s great perspective, depth of experience and understanding of life’s profound rhythms are all part of a wisdom to truly be revered and appreciated.
Sincerely in Christ, Father Albert l. Capone

PARISH NEWS PROPAGATION OF THE FAITH
Special Second Collection Again this year, His Eminence Cardinal Sean has asked each parish of the Archdiocese of Boston to welcome a missionary into their midst so that we
might more fully understand the work of their ministry and may support their work with our generosity. At the end of this month, next weekend July 30–31, Mrs. Mary Bolles, a representative of the Society of the Propagation of the Faith, will speak at all our Masses. The Society of the Propagation of the Faith provides assistance to the Church in Africa, Asia, the islands of the Pacific and remote regions of Latin America, including aid for the education and support of seminarians, Religious novices and lay catechists; for the work of Religious Communities in education, health care and social services and communication and transportation needs. Remember, the Apostles did not complete their task, it is our vocation as Christians to allow the Holy Spirit to continue the work of evangelization through each of us!
LIVE-IN RESPONDER - MSGR NEAGLE APTS Employee will respond immediately to emergencies, assist in dealing with situations involving Building and/or residents outside of regular business hours that require immediate or prompt attention. Compensation is a free one bedroom apartment. Candidates should send a resume to Michelle Spicer at [email protected].
TAKING PRIDE IN OUR CHURCH “Many hands make light work” a common expression we have all heard that is very true. Although our parish custodian is responsible to make sure the Church is in proper order before our weekend Masses, we can all do our part to keep Immaculate Conception Church neat and clean. Please be sure to take home a copy of the bulletin, however if you do not, please do not leave them in the pews or in the book rack, simply return them to the entrance of the Church for the parishioners of the next Mass, place the missalettes back in their rack and remove any papers or debris that is in your pew … taking pride in our Church.
COME JOIN THE CHILDREN’S CHOIR AT THE 9 AM FAMILY MASS Children of all ages are welcome to sing every Sunday at the 9 AM Family Mass. Come be a special part of the Liturgy! Please see Judy Doucette or Nicole Maggio after Mass if you have any questions. Choir practice will begin again in September...be on the look out for dates!
ST. VINCENT de PAUL MEETING There will be a meeting for the St. Vincent de Paul Society on Wednesday, August
3rd at 7:00 PM in the Meeting Room. We ask all members to please plan to attend.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and RCIA Adapted for Children is the process through which
adults and children join the Catholic Church. Who might inquire about this process? ¨ Anyone who has never been baptized.
¨ Anyone who has been baptized in another faith. ¨ Anyone who has been baptized Catholic, but never
received the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. ¨ Anyone who has received the Sacraments of Baptism
and Eucharist but has never been catechized. For more information regarding this process please call Father Capone at the rectory 781-324-4941.
