Vicar’s Message

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen”( Luke 24:5) Dearly beloved in Christ. Warm Easter greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Now we are in the Lenten season. These days we are specially meditating the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest and the most events in the history of the world. As we meditate on the cross of the Lord, we have to understand that cross is not the final answer of our Christian life but the crucified and resurrected Christ is the ultimate answer of our Christian life. At the beginning of this month, we are going to celebrate the joy of Easter. “The Lord is truly risen” is the message of Easter. Our faith, our hope and the meaning of our Christian life is founded on Jesus’ resurrection. That’s why St. Paul says “If Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation has been in vain and your faith has been in vain” (1Cor.15:14) Therefore the resurrection of Jesus Christ is the crowning point of the history of our salvation. That is the foundation of Christian faith. The message of Easter is not a matter of past but it should be a present reality in our day today Christian life. How do we experience the power of resurrection in our daily Christian life? What the risen Lord did for us? Just Listen, the testimony of a person who experienced the power of the resurrected Lord. He says “The risen Lord has touched all the areas of my life and it has become brighten and enlightened. My relationships, my work place and my daily activities became more meaningful and cheerful. Finally, the resurrected Lord did not take away all my pains, sufferings, struggles and anxieties but He has given me the strength and courage to face all my pains and problems by His everlasting mercy”. This is the true message of the Easter. Out of this experience let us share the Joy of Easter. Now we are at the beginning of the new financial year. All parish members were actively participated in all the programmes of parish. I thank God for your valuable prayer and cooperation that you have extended to the parish activities during the past financial year. Let us continue to offer our very best for the best of the parish and its mission by sparing our valuable time, presence, prayers, talents, resources etc.so that His name will be glorified and His Kingdom will be extended. Wish you all a happy Easter. May God bless you. With love & Prayers

John Achen

From the Secretary’s Desk …………………………….

Dearly beloved in Christ,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

We are going to celebrate one more Easter. In the lent season, let us try to understand the needs of our fellow beings with our inner eyes by fixing one’s full attention on the real situation. Good Friday reminds us, to fulfill the will of the father in Heaven and the pain on the cross which our Lord Jesus has gone through. Easter reminds us, to witness the resurrected Christ in our society. If we want to witness Him, we need abundant experience and commitment with Jesus Christ. We should dedicate our life to be a witness for Jesus Christ and have a long lasting faith. Committed life is very important because it is only through that , we can make other witnesses in our society. Are we ready to take the challenge of Christian faith & practice. Let us pray to God to use us in the way God wants & become the sort of persons that God wants us to be. I thank our Almighty Lord for His guidance and blessings received during the last year too. I also

thank all the outgoing office bearers for their contribution towards the parish. May God Bless them

abundantly and I hope their continued support for each and every program.

We have entered into new financial year 2015-16 and the book mark of programs scheduled, will

be distributed to all the members shortly to remember, to pray and for your effective

participation.

I WISH ALL “A HAPPY & BLESSED EASTER”

Development of entrepreneurial motivation and skills

in young Christian children

In my long career of helping youngsters to discover themselves, grow, develop their talents and

contribute, I had some opportunities for career counseling though I am not a professional career

counselor. I have found that entrepreneurial careers of different nature and profiles had been very

satisfying to all who have adopted such careers. Traditionally our minds are fixed on the common

secular formula of generic brilliance, best education, outstanding jobs, money related success,

positions and comfortable life. Probably less attention is given to societal contributions, individual

satisfaction, self actualization and freedom for thinking and action linked to his or her beliefs,

attitudes and long term goals and aspirations. In earlier days in our economy there had been efforts

for self employment more as a means for livelihood than otherwise. There are unfriendly

environmental factors also contributing to retardation of private initiatives in careers. But in western

economies initial economic growth and growth have been primarily promoted through private

initiatives and enterprise. But today incentives as well as conditions for self employment and private

initiatives have been intentionally increased in many nations significantly. The 21st century needs

innovative ideas, creative solutions and new perspectives to develop vibrant economies and to serve

and thrive in these new economies based on modern technologies and liberal development. For our

children the old ideas of having an excellent education, professional qualification and a good

employment in a corporation may not help them to achieve life goals desirable from a Christian

perspective also. After all long associations and long runs with corporations will mould the character

and culture of the people in line with the organizational culture especially those who are successful

and who grow in the organizations.

Also as time goes on, openings available in the corporate sector and institutional employment will

become less and less due to various constraints in the employment market .Already we are seeing

indications of the same especially for certain sectors of industry and certain sections of the society. It

may be better to be proactive and prepared for that situation than becoming reactive and facing it

head on. Entrepreneurship, self employment and small business spread out in the economy can

reduce concentration of wealth, regional disparities in development, encourage local employment

and improve income distribution. From the Christian point of view also this is a laudable outcome.

Apart from these there are a number of other attractions in an independent entrepreneurial career.

In corporate employment, opportunity for demonstrating one’s talents fully in a liberal way will be

limited. Sometimes the freedom may be limited to express all ideas even. It may also be necessary to

compromise personal norms and values for peer acceptance and growth. In self employment one is

his own master and the tasks can be performed according to one’s plans and pace.

At the same time the modern technology provides abundant opportunities for entrepreneurship and

self employment. Many innovative business propositions can be identified which will give

competitive advantages and growth. Young minds need independence for thinking and action. One

may want to pursue ones values and norms. One would like to work as per his goals and program. All

these flexibilities are possible in self employment. Some of us would like to have employees of our

`

own faith and choice to work with us. Some would like to have freedom to influence the beliefs of

the employees who work for us. Thus Christian entrepreneurship can build businesses of Christian

values and norms in the long run and it can become a movement.

Any profession can be practiced by an entrepreneur whether it is medical, technologies, engineering,

social welfare, computing, repairs, and so on. One has to identify the right opportunity and design

the right project and get started with the right preparations. Many of our early missionaries have

been great explorers and social entrepreneurs. They have taken risks in life, explored uncharted

territories served rejected and deprived people and carried the God’s love to them. They were

pioneers. All enterprising people possess some of their qualities.

Thus it is possible to identify some good qualities and attributes that are expected from successful

entrepreneurs; some of them may be inborn and some of them are cultivated. But today research

data prove that generally entrepreneurial skills can be cultivated through training and emulation.

Some attributes like perseverance in adverse circumstances, risk taking attitude and achievement

motivation etc may be inborn to a certain degree; but many other skills can be cultivated. Systematic

mentoring and training of our youngsters for entrepreneurial careers will give them better

opportunities to pursue free careers. This will in turn produce better human resources; mobilize

more time and better directions for promotion of evangelical activities.

If the church is inclined towards this idea the children can be attracted to this from their childhood

by a joint attention by the church and the family. Proper career counseling can be given by joint

efforts. Sunday school and you league can organize formal programs on a continuous basis. Changes

in the current mindsets cannot be expected immediately. But systematic pursuit of efforts will finally

yield results.

Not Everything Changes in a Changing World

Though surrounded by flux and ambiguities, let us remember that there are some constants. We

need to make creative changes in our lifestyle to keep up with the times in which we live but not

everything changes.

His Eternal Purpose Never Changes

Methods and structures may need to change to meet the times in which we live but not His eternal purpose. “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of Godshould be made known to

the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he

accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. In him and through faith in him we may approach God with

freedom and confidence”. (Eph. 3:10-12; also see Phil. 2:9-11; Col. 1:18-20)

In thinking through how to change to meet the needs of today’s world, make sure that what we do

lines up with His eternal purpose. Keep Jesus central in all our actions..

His Word Never Changes

The way we communicate may need to change to meet the times but not His Word. The content

never changes. His Word “is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens” (Ps. 119:89). If His Word could

become irrelevant for today, then God could not be trusted for He would not be true to what He

said.

God is not man that he should lie, nor a son of man that he should change his mind. Does he not

speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? (Num. 23:19)

In thinking through how to communicate effectively in today’s world, make sure that we do not

compromise truth. Truth is what will set people free (Jn. 8:32). Never abandon the Truth of God’s

Word for what you think people want to hear.

God Himself Never Changes

People may try to make God into who they think He should be (Rom. 1:21-25) but they cannot add

to or take away from who He is. He does not change. “From everlasting to everlasting, He is God”

(Ps. 90:2).

`

In thinking through how to best serve people in today’s world, make sure that what we do lines up

with the true character of God. Determine who we are going to let define the way we live … an

immutable God or the changing world in which we live.

Let’s keep our perspective clear in these uncertain days.
