MODEL IN CURRENT USEMODEL IN CURRENT USE
Current model is:Current model is:• Hard to open and interact with.
f• Bulky and uncomfortable to carry.
GENERAL DESIGN SPECIFICATIONSGENERAL DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
Tool Carrier:• Hold the tools and supplies necessary to vaccinate a population.• Provide organization for tools and supplies.
Bag:• Versatile in use.• Hold the cold box and sharps box.
Cold Box:• Inside volume must remain between 2-8 °C in an exterior
temperature of 43°C for 24 hours.• Inside volume must remain between 2-8 °C in an exterior
temperature of 30°C for 15 hours.
FINAL DESIGN CONCEPTFINAL DESIGN CONCEPT
Three Aspects:p• Two-Pole Tool Carrier Design.• Versatile Backpack Design.• Cylindrical Cold Box with bendable icepacks.

COLD BOX DESIGNCOLD BOX DESIGN
Dimensions:• Outer Radius = 12 cm.• Height = 22.6 cm.• Overall Volume = 10,200 cm3.• 45% reduction in volume from
design currently in use.• Weight fully loaded = 3.8 lbs.
THERMAL TEST OF COLD BOXTHERMAL TEST OF COLD BOX
• Cold Box tested at 35 °C in convection oven: Maintained internal volume temperature of 2-8 °C for 28 hours.
• Cold Box tested at 50 °C in convection oven: Maintained internal volume temperature of 2-8 °C Maintained internal volume temperature of 2 8 C for 13 hours.
• Test of concept showed that it met specifications set out by PQS and specifications made by the Design TeamDesign Team.

DROP TESTDROP TEST
• Cold box dropped from a height of one Cold box dropped from a height of one meter a total of 26 times
• PQS req ires a rating of 2 (Little to No • PQS requires a rating of 2 (Little to No Damage or Deformation)
f f• Little deformation, no cracks or fractures, slight scuffing on the edge
SIT TEST FOR COLD BOXSIT TEST FOR COLD BOX
• The cold box is often used as a stool by the workers.y• A maximum load of 240 pounds was placed on the
cold box in both horizontal and vertical orientations.
TEST FOR BAMBOO POLESTEST FOR BAMBOO POLES
• The bamboo pole was placed across two tables.p p• A 200-pound man sat on the middle of the pole.• The pole easily supported this weight, which is fifteen
times the weight of the tools.
POCKET TESTINGPOCKET TESTING
• Pockets were continuously overstuffed and left Pockets were continuously overstuffed and left for a period of three weeks
• While o erst ffed items were jammed into the • While overstuffed, items were jammed into the pockets to simulate the fatigue of repeated loadingloading
• Pockets were overloaded to 4 times the d d l l hmaximum individual tool weight
SUMMARYSUMMARY
• Pole carrier provides a visual display of neatly Pole carrier provides a visual display of neatly organized tools used during vaccination outreachesoutreaches
• The backpack carrier can be carried in several different arrangements to best suit the userdifferent arrangements to best suit the user.
• The cold box meets PQS and design team f h l d h ll lspecifications while reducing the overall volume
by almost half of current model.
