    Quiz 2 – Inference in Means, Proportions, and Bivariates

     Answer the following questions accordingly, considering the following:

    •   Test all the hypotheses at 5% level of significance.

    •  In the  p-value, use 3 decimals.

    •  Use Tukey’s Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) in post hoc analysis of ANOVA.

     About the data: On the year 2014, a new virus called H-Ivy was found to infect human beings. To decide which brand is the

    best, three leading drugs were tested for a two-month treatment period. These drugs are believed to cure some H-Ivy infected

    patients by significantly decreasing their viral load for as low as 40 copies/mL. Ninety infected patients were randomly

    selected and went under laboratory tests for viral load test. Determination of the lymph nodes inflammation was also

    considered. The descriptions of each variable in the file, immuno.sav , are as follows:

    age – the patient’s age (in years)

    agecategory – patient’s age category [1 – Young (below 35); 2 – Middle-Aged (age 35 to 49); 3 – Old (50 and above)]gender – the gender of patient [1 – Male; 2 – Female]

    brand – brand of the taken drug [1 – May Laban; 2 – Mabisa; 3 – Happy Life]

    lymph0 – inflammation of lymph node before taking the drug [0 – Not inflamed; 1 – Inflamed]

    lymph2 – inflammation of lymph node two months after taking the drug [0 – Not inflamed; 1 – Inflamed]

    month0category – category of viral load (in copies/mL) before taking the drug

    1 – Low (with 40 to 500 copies/mL of viral load)

    2 – Medium (between 500 and 5000 copies/mL of viral load)

    3 – High (5000 and above of viral load)

    month0 – viral load (in copies/mL) before taking the drug

    month1 – viral load (in copies/mL) one month after taking the drug

    month2 – viral load (in copies/mL) two months after taking the drug

    outcome – the status of the patient after the two-month treatment period (0 – not cured; 1 – cured)

    For more information about the data, a patient who has less than 40 copies/mL of H-Ivy is considered cured;

    and patients who have at least 1000 copies/mL of H-Ivy have inflamed lymph nodes.
