To create the logo we used Adobe Photoshop CS6 and the letters stand for our names (Caitlin, Angelika, Shannon). This is the first thing in the documentary that the audience watches. To make it more intriguing, we added a sound effect called ‘Title Whip’ which lasts 2.7 seconds.

After the logo, we placed the title of our documentary as our next shot. The documentary is called ‘THE CASE OF LUCY BARRAT’. We added the sound effect ‘Ambient Sound 2’ and this is an ongoing music throughout the documentary.

The next shot is a long-shot where victim is walking down an ‘alley’ near the wall then the next shot is a mid-shot side view of the victim’s face where she is walking next to the wall. The next shot is a close of the face. All these shots were filmed in the same placed from different angles.

This is the introduction to the documentary, the news reporter is our presenter of the documentary, she informs the audience what is going on. This is the news report scene which was filmed in the studio. We had used the green screen to get the BBC News background. We had placed the sound effect of ‘Broadcast News Short’. This effect was used so that it would look like a news report and it lasted 5.8 seconds. We also added the text so again it would like the news on the TV. During the changes of scenes fade to white was used.

In these screenshots, there is an interview going on with flashbacks known as re-enactments in between the interview shots from that character’s point of view. We had used ambient effect 2 that is being played over the person talking. It had lasted 10.5 seconds. The sound effect also carried on to the re-enactments which had added effect to what was going on.

As you can see, there are differences between the interview scenes and the re-enactments scenes and this is because we had changed the filter of the re-enactment videos. We had reduced the brightness and increased the temperature so it became a shade of blue. We had placed text to let the audience know who is being interviewed. We also had used the transition of fade to black to get from one scene to the next. We had used this transition for most of documentary.

These are the screenshots leading up the main event of the documentary. The 1st, 3rd and 5th screenshots are the interview from one of the main characters who had witnessed the murder. The 2nd screenshot is two-character shot and also a long shot where the audience can see the whole body of the characters within the frame. The 4th screenshot is a side view of the two girls. Again, we had used the ‘ambient effect 2’. The transitions used were cross zoom and dissolve.

For every re-enactment, we had slowed it down by using the slow motion tool.

These are the screenshots of the action in the documentary. We had used the ‘heartbeat’ sound effect so it sounded more in tensed as the murder was about to happened. In the last screenshot, we had used a tool called ‘ken burns’, this tool enabled us to zoom in.

This is the end of the report, this is also where the present is ending the documentary. We had used the green screen again which helped to use the background.

This is the credits of the documentary, where we had used the ‘ship ambience’ sound effect, it had lasted for 12.7 seconds.

At the end of the documentary, we had placed a helpline where the audience can get in touch if they have experience anything like the case of Lucy Barrat.
