millionintotalfundingsinceinception!Thispastyear,Impact100Chicagoawardedsix

$100,000grantstoworthylocalnonprofits.Detailsabouteachoftheseorganizationscanbe

IampleasedtoannouncethateffectiveSeptember1,2016,MichelePolverehasbecomethe

BoardChairofImpact100Chicago.Since2009,Michelehasselflesslygivenhertimeand

effortsonthebehalfoftheorganization.Asaco-founderherpassionandheartforImpact

100Chicagoareunsurpassed.Iamthrilledsheiswillingtoaccepttheresponsibilitiesofthisleadershippositionaswecontinuetoevolveandmoveourorganizationforward.Ithas

beenmyhonorandprivilegetoserveasChairofImpact100Chicagoforthepastsixyears.

Despiteourbesteffortsandfinancialcommitments,theChicagoarearemainschallengedin

somanyways.Onadailybasis,mediaoutletswriteaboutincreasinggunviolence,racial

tensions,ourbudgetimpasseandcountlessothercausesthatneedsupport.Longterm,meaningfulsolutionswillevolvethroughthecollectiveeffortsofcommunityconstituentsin

thecityandsuburbs.Impact100Chicagoisuniquelypositionedtoplayaroleinthehealing

ofourcommunities.Ourmodelofpoolingresourceswhilegivingeachmemberaseatatthe

grantmakingtable,canbeonestepintheprocess.Acitizenshipthatiscognizantofandengagedinthechallengesoftheircommunityisnecessaryforlastingtransformationto

occur.

firstsixyearsofworkingtogether,Impact100Chicagohasgrownfrom126membersto

600membersintwochaptersandhasawardedover$2milliontolocalnonprofits

throughouttheChicagolandarea.Throughourgrants,Impact100Chicagohasaddressedimportantcommunityissueslikepoverty,gangviolenceprevention,homelessness,

healthcareandeducationforunderservedpopulations,refugeeservices,domesticviolence,

workforcedevelopmentandsupportingcreativearts.

Duringthe2016grantcycle,wereceived286lettersofinquiryfrominterestednonprofits.

Ourmembervolunteersreviewedtheproposedprojectsandtheapplicant’sfinancialdata.

Thefieldofapplicantswasfirstnarroweddownto63fullgrantapplicantsandthento32sitevisits.Afterthesitevisits,weselected11finalistswhoallmadeheartfeltpresentations

atourannualgrantawardcelebrations.Ourmembersthenvotedtoaward$100,000Impact

Grantstosixofthesefinalistswiththeremainingfiveorganizationssharinginanother

$31,000ofMeritGrantawards.
