  • Additional functions…

    • External Air• Sigh

    • PEEP• PEEP• Pressure Plateau

    • Manual Breath/Trigger

    • Alarm Mute/Cancel

    • Apnea Backup (Automatic)

  • Additional functions…External Air

    • External AirThe EXTERNAL AIR Pushbutton Switchpermits you to manually select externalcompressed air as your primary air source. When the ventilator is turned ON, its CPU"samples" the respective gas fitting and looksfor an air pressure, greater than 40-PSI. If alower pressure, or no pressure is sensed, theLCD will display "OFF" (default value) andthe CPU allows operation to begin from theinternal compressor. If a pressure exceeding40-PSI (+/- 2 PSI) is sensed, the LCD willdisplay "ON" and allow operation to beginfrom the external air supply. Manuallypressing the pushbutton will toggle the displayfrom "OFF" to "ON or from "ON" to "OFF".

  • Additional functions…SIGH

    • SIGHThe SIGH OFF/ON Pushbutton Switch permitsthe ventilator to operate with or without SIGH.When the SIGH function is activated, the firstventilator-generated breath is always a SIGH.Afterwards, each additional SIGH breath isdelivered once every 100 breaths or 7-minutes,whichever occurs first. A SIGH breath equals150% of the INSPIRATION TIME setting (andthe exhalation period). This will increase thedelivered volume of that breath by 50%. Byproportionately increasing both the inspirationand exhalation time, Uni-VentTM maintains theI:E ratio for all breaths. As a safetyprecaution, Uni-VentTM will not allow theinspiratory portion of a SIGH breath to exceed3 seconds.

  • Additional functions…PEEP

    • PEEPThe PEEP OFF/ON-SET Value PushbuttonSwitch activates Uni-VentTM's internal PEEPlearning software. When the ventilator isturned ON, PEEP has a default value of 0cmH2O (no PEEP). Each time thepushbutton is pressed, PEEP is increased by1 cmH2O up to a maximum value of 20cmH2O (then back to “0” again). It may takeseveral breaths for the learning process toconclude. During this period you will see aPEEP value successively added to thepressure waveform after each breath. Toprotect against high airway pressures, Uni-VentTM will “dump” PEEP (to 0 cmH2O) ifthe patient should cough.

  • Additional functions…Manual Breath/Trigger

    • Manual Breath/TriggerThe MANUAL BREATH/TRIGGERPushbutton Switch delivers a manualbreath each time the pushbutton switchis pressed. The inspiratory time andtidal volume of each manual breath isequal to the current control settings. If aventilator failure occurs, the operatorcan manually trigger a continuous flowof gas can be triggered for as long as thepushbutton switch is pressed.

  • Additional functions…Mute/Cancel Pushbutton

    • Mute/CancelThe MUTE/CANCEL PushbuttonSwitch allows the operator totemporarily mute the audiblecomponent of an Operating Alarm orcancel the audible and flashing LEDAlarm Indicator components of anAdvisory Alarm. Most mute periods are30-seconds long. An External PowerLow/Failure Alarm mute will last for 5-minute intervals until a Low BatteryAlarm occurs and for 30-secondintervals thereafter.
