We're committed to moving the fashion industry towards a more human approach, where the Earth and the Maker are valued equally to the consumer.

Our Quarterly Impact Reports are one way we can show our customers the progress we've made over the past few months in pursuit of our goals, which you learn more about in our 5 Year Impact Plan. We center our entire business around our main pillars, especially our Impact Reports. We hope our Impact Reports give you a better glimpse into what's going on behind the scenes at Tribe Alive, in Texas and across the world.

We know that investing in women creates waves of impact in global communities.

We've been partnering with women in India, Honduras, Guatemala, and Haiti for years now, and in Q1 sampling began with our newest partnership in Peru. We're incredibly proud to work with talented, strong, inspiring women from all over, and are committed to being a brand built by women, led by women, and made for women. When women are empowered to earn an income, they reinvest that income back into healthcare, education, and better nutrition for their families and communities.

HIGHLIGHT Honduras

This February, our founder visited our jewelry-making partners in Honduras. She visits this group twice a year each year to connect with, train and help support our all-female jewelry-making team.

This was the first group we ever worked with starting in 2014, when 2-3 women began working on basic beaded jewelry designs. Now exists a thriving team of 8 well-trained, dedicated master jewelers that work on our collection full-time. They are experts of their craft, interpreting our designer’s sketches into wearable pieces and giving their own input and ideas along the way.

We carefully selected this partnership due to it's female centric mission and commitment to women in Honduras for decades. Among the many resources they provide women in their community are free education and skill training (beauty & hair, sewing, and jewelry-making), ethical employment, safe work environments, career and resume support, and more. This is a place where women find community, empowerment & hope for their futures.

SAFE & MEANINGFUL WORK ENVIRONMENTS

One of the goals outlined in our 5 Year Impact Plan was to publish our Restricted Substance List, Code of Conduct, and Suppliers List to create more transparency and visibility to the standards and practices we are upholding with our partners. All three documents now permanently live on our Behind the Brand Page and are linked below.

100% of our artisan partners comply to our RSL and COC, which are renewed each year to ensure constant compliance.

FAIR WAGES

This year, after months of research & evaluation, we renamed our ‘Living Wages’ Brand Pillar ‘Fair Wages’ to best represent the current practices of our worldwide partners. Currently 100% of our artisans earn a fair-trade wage, and the majority earn a ‘living wage’, and we remain focused on achieving a living wage for all.

Over the last five years, our artisan network has grown into a thriving community of 250+ artisans, with differing levels of skills and experience, resulting in a more complex supply chain across multiple countries. We are proud to support the employment of individuals with a wide range of roles, education levels, abilities & availability.

We are now working with B Corporation & Fair Trade Federation so that our systems and practices are constantly evaluated & improved within these transparent relationships. We are now working towards the goal that at least 75% of our workforce would earn a third-party certified living wage by the end of 2021.

DESIGNED TO LAST

The Everyday Collection

This Quarter was focused on developing & telling the story of our Everyday Collection which features our signature wearable, timeless separates and dresses in earth-loving, comfortable materials. We love this collection because you truly can wear the pieces every day with what you have in your wardrobe, an important message for sustainability and slower consumerism.

This season, we added three new colorways in Organic Linen to our Everyday Crop Set. We also expanded the collection with a brand new Everyday Short & added a new colorway in the Everyday Dress. Our Everyday Collection now has its own page on the website to highlight how special these pieces are. Finally, we built a new feature into our site allowing customers to design their own Everyday Set to create unique color combinations that they will love and wear everyday.

Did you know that

100%- Of our textiles are synthetic & plastic free?

- Of our paper-goods & in-store packaging are made of recycled

cotton fashion remnants?

- Of our packaging for online orders is made of recyclable and/or

compostable materials?

We believe creating thoughtful pieces that are designed to last means we are to use the cleanest, earth-friendly materials possible. Most fashion pieces these days are made with synthetic materials which are not biodegradable & often shed little

pieces of plastic into our water streams each time they are washed. That's why we're committed to using 100% synthetic and chemical free textiles. The next step for us is sourcing synthetic-free buttons and zippers. We want you to be able to trust that

100% of our pieces are synthetic and chemical free - clean for your body and clean for the planet.

Another way we design with quality and life span in mind is choosing packaging that is made of recycled materials or materials that can be recycled. All of our paper goods and paper packaging are made of recycled cotton waste from our production in

India, and all of our online order packaging is able to be recyclable and/or compostable upon disposal.

TRIBE ALIVE 2020-2024 IMPACT PLAN

In February, we published our 5 Year Impact Plan. This plan outlines our goals and actions to improving our impact in all areas of our business and is centered around our main pillars. It's also what's guiding our Impact Reports, and will be what we use to measure our growth over the next few years. Be sure to take a look at it here if you haven't yet.

Thoughtful design to honor the Earth. In the first quarter, we used 365 lbs. of upcycled denim that would have otherwise been sent to a landfill.

Because of this, we saved

875,800Gallons of water

7,300Pounds of CO2

In early 2020, we formed a partnership with Grow Ahead, an organization standing behind reforestation projects run by small-scale farmer organizations to help combat climate change and support communities. Through our partnership with

Grow Ahead, our customers will be able to balance the carbon emissions of shipping their order at checkout.

Over 40 pounds of carbon sequestered per year, provides important habitat for flora and fauna, retains water and

restores nutrients to the soil, generates income for farmers, and supports local food security

Our goal is to become 100% carbon neutral for Scope 1 (Tribe Alive HQ) and 50% carbon neutral for Scopes 2-3 (product transportation and customer shipping) by the end of 2021.

“Maybe we are beginning to

comprehend that no one can be

saved alone, that borders do not

exist, that health is a universal

right, that the economy can wait,

that life is fragile and protecting

it is a collective duty.”

In immediate response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Tribe Alive:

We will continue to research & respond as events continue to develop.
