importance of regulation of blood glucose level

1
Importance of regulation of blood glucose level Blood glucose level will affect the water potential of blood. High blood glucose level will reduce water potential of blood. Thus, water will be drawn from body cells to blood by osmosis Body cells shrink and wrinkle This leads to dehydration which inactivates enzymes responsible for metabolic activities such as respiration. Low blood glucose level will increase water potential of blood and water will enter body cells from blood by osmosis Body cells will swell and burst. Also, due to low blood glucose content, body cells do not have sufficient glucose for respiration and may die. Neurones in brain can only use glucose as energy source, thus they cannot function properly under low blood glucose content and the person will become unconscious.

Importance of regulation of blood glucose level

Blood glucose level will affect the water potential of blood.High blood glucose level will reduce water potential of blood. Thus, water will be drawn from body cells to blood by osmosisBody cells shrink and wrinkleThis leads to dehydration which inactivates enzymes responsible for metabolic activities such as respiration.

Low blood glucose level will increase water potential of blood and water will enter body cells from blood by osmosisBody cells will swell and burst. Also, due to low blood glucose content, body cells do not have sufficient glucose for respiration and may die.Neurones in brain can only use glucose as energy source, thus they cannot function properly under low blood glucose content and the person will become unconscious.
